Micius
I am re-entering the hobby after a long absence. While I have been gone GW has come out with an entirely new line of paints and I find myself not knowing where to begin. Before I go out and buy a bunch of paint that I won't end up using, I thought I would ask the community where to start. I'd like to paint up a few marines from my DIY Chapter: Hex Code: #1f3e66 (R: 31, G: 62, B: 102, H: 214°, S: 70%, B: 40%) Paint Distances*: 2.32 Dark Blue (Valejo Model) 2.92 Deep Blue (Foundry Paints) 3.38 Fenris Grey (GW Citadel) 9.58 Mordian Blue (GW Citadel) *B&C SMPainter Here are my current thoughts: Prime w/ [Corax White Spray] Base blue areas with [Kantor Blue]/[Abbadon Black] 80/20 Base greaves/piping with [Mechanicus Standard Grey] Base metal (on bolter) with [Leadbelcher] Wash with [Nuln Oil] Highlight metal with [Runefang Steel] Layer blue areas with [Kantor Blue] Highlight blue areas with [Kantor Blue]/[Macragge Blue] 50/50 Highlight blue areas with [Macragge Blue] Base white areas with [Ceramite White] Base parchment with [Tallarn Sand] Highlight parchment with [Karak Stone] Detail parchment with [Rhinox Hide] Base seals with [Khorne Red] Base eyes with [Khorne Red] Highlight eyes with [Fire Dragon Bright] Paint List:[Corax White Spray] [Kantor Blue] [Abbadon Black] [Mechanicus Standard Grey] [Leadbelcher] [Nuln Oil] [Runefang Steel] [Macragge Blue] [Ceramite White] [Tallarn Sand] [Karak Stone] [Rhinox Hide] [Khorne Red] [Fire Dragon Bright] What do you think? Razblood
Sounds good, but I'd base your white with something like Celestra Grey as it has better coverage than Ceramite White. You can then bang a layer or two of Ceramite White over that to get a clean white.
