SystmOveRide
Currently I have a No 1 Vallejo Red Sable Kolinsky brush, an old Citadel Basecoat brush, and an Army Painter Warhamer: The Psycho brush for fine, fine detail. What do you guys use? I'm thinking of replacing my No 1 and Basecoat brushes soon, and am thinking of going to the Army Painter range due to the handle style and its comfort, any other brands out there that are good that I should be informed about? SystmOveRide
I use about six different manufacturers brush's. Do you have like a preference for quality or type? I find personally I subconsciously squeeze the brush handle sometimes which gets a bit painful, hence why I might move completely to Army Painter's Wargamer range since they're quite comfortable to use Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/310136-what-brush-do-you-guys-use/#findComment-4104090 Share on other sites
Peredyne
I have literally dozens of old brushes from lots of different manufacturers, but I just recently switched over to Winsor and Newton Series 7 sables for my new brushes and I can honestly say that I've found my last new brushes. They feel great and have held up without any issues for the last 2 months. Khornestar
I use this set of sable brushes from Da Vinci: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71mO7jYjZCL._SL1500_.jpg The 2/0 in particular is very good, but I don't like the smaller sizes as much. The hairs don't appear to all be the appropriate length so they don't form a proper point. Acebaur
Depends on what I'm painting, but for my good brushes I use W&N S7's sizes 0 and 1. The quality is amazing and I will probably never use anything else for detail work. Guest
As the good Acebaur says W&N S7's I have not found a brush to beat them on quality. I use W&N Cotmans for undercoats and washes. Kaedes Nex
Most people use W&N S7, but Da Vinci is just as good and Raphael 8404 is even slightly better depending on your preference, since the bristles are slightly longer. However, Raphael does not offer "miniature" handled versions, unlike W&N and Da Vinci, so I'd go with W&N for those. If you want a kolinsky sable brush with AP's triangular handles, there are some brands that make them like that, you just have to Google it. Not too sure about the quality of the brush shape and bristles on those though.
