cassian dracos
The Thousand sons have the Prospero spire guard, and I was wondering if anyone knew the name of the Imperial fists solar auxilia regiments, or if they even existed. DuskRaider
I face the same issue with my Death Guard, but I've decided I'm just going to make it up as I go along. I'm sure Inwit has some sort of PDF, but I don't see any Auxilia stationed on their Star Fortress. Marshal Rohr
Im in the process of creating a Solar Auxilia Cohort drawn from Inwit that will take heavy cultural clues from the Northern German and Baltic cultures. People always assume Inwit must be populated by Space Eskimos because the name sounds like Inuit, but personally I've always seen it as being closer to Prussia and the Baltic Sea regions. Visually, I draw heavily from Northerners from Game of Thrones, Varangians from Assassin's Creed, and Nords from Skyrim. For history and culture I use real world events and regional cultures to shape the various Castes and Houses. As for Militia, I am creating a regiment with inspiration drawn from Bismark's Prussia. A Kingdom on the Marches of the northern Saxonii Hive Sprawl (detailed in Extermination). They evolved under a state of constant war with the Urshan Empire and have developed a highly militarized society. Visually, I have Krieg models, so thats what they will look like. The Storm Brigades are self-contained Cohort Pattern Regiments Secundus that are deployed as second line fighting forces. They are highly trained and well equipped, but they are not a Regiment of Renown, but they are a professional, loyal, and hardy fighting force. Is there any mention of the G9K regiment in Extermination Brother? They seem to fit the Germanic theme as noted on page 193: "Korine sighed. He was a heavy-set man with Prussian ethnic traits, and he carried himself with the manner of a career soldier. G9K had a considerable reputation as a front-line force. It famously maintained an archaic performance-based pay and advancement model that was said to have its origins in prediluvian traditions of mercantile sponsored mercenaries. rendingon1+
Why not a regiment from Necromunda? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/310186-imperial-fists-auxilia-name/#findComment-4107602 Share on other sites
Marshal Rohr
The G9K seem, to me, more like the old mercantile armies of the HRE's holdings during the Medieval Era. In Italy at the time, most armies were bodies of professional soldiery that sometimes gets mislabeled as mercenaries. The city-states paid these armies to fight their wars on contract basis. Most of our modern 'rank' structure actually descends from these private armies, instead of the older, more established model of the Roman Legion (Republic, Imperial, and Late). No mention of the G9K was made in Extermination :(. A shame, considering they are one of my favorite 'Old Hundred' so far. Why not a regiment from Necromunda? Necromunda had no colonists, given its recent catastrophe during the Wars for Arenaeus. cassian dracos
I am going to do a geno regiment and I will think about a name later. I was planning on using eisenkern storm troopers by dreamforge, they look like german semi power armoured soldiers. With some lasguns and removal of non imperial seals I think they could fit in nicely.
