Legion superheavy for a troop heavy army.

Recommended Posts

If youll be up vs another super-heavy tank, the glaive is the best bet since its gun is S8 ap2 haywire and causes D3+1 hits vs other Super-Heavies. And since its volkite, well, infantry will get vaped by it. Heavy Beam also means itll hit a lot of stuff if you line up the shot properly.

However, since the spartan isnt a superheavy (but the typhon and cerberus is and they share the same chassis..), itll only hit it once if the beam passes over one.

Yes glaives were also on the top of my list.

What points values do you normally play? If you're complying with the 25% limit for Lords of War, then the Glaive can only be used in 2600 and above games, whereas you could use a Typhon or Falchion in smaller games as well.

usually 2000 pts

At 2,000 points if you're using the full Age of Darkness rules, then your maximum points value for your vehicle is 500 points, which rules out the Fellblade, Glaive and Falchion. They're all really cool tanks, but when you're spending that much money, you want to use it as much as possible!

Perhaps the sicarian venerator is a better choice?

The Venator is a great choice for shutting down enemy super heavies including Titans. They also don't take up your one and only LoW shot. But they fill a completely different role on the battlefield compared to the superheavies your initial post mentioned you were debating over.

The better question would then be, in your infantry favoring list, what roll are you looking to fill with these prospective tanks?

A note of caution on the glaive, it will cause wounds to your own models as well as enemy. You cant fire the main gun if the first target that the beam passes over is friendly. This can hurt in a troop heavy list. I have found that the Glaive suffers against non super heavies but it will consistently delete non terminator foot sloggers.

Im needing some more heavier fire power. My list lacks any real stopping power in terms of taking out enemy vehicles
