Evening Ladies and Gents.

 

I've been a bit of a lurker to this site for a good few years and have decided that I should share with you guys my latest endeavour. I've been painting and collecting Warhammer 40k on and off for the past 20+ years but have never started a project of this size before, so here's the plan and back story.

 

A few weeks ago I was perusing the shelves of the local GW just for something new to paint when I decided to pick up the Stalker/Hunter tank, after assembling it I decided to paint it in a scheme I have always liked the look of, the Sons of Medusa!!

 

Then the new Space Marine Codex came out.....and my plan of painting up A tank has mutated into a plan to paint a Demi-Company plus of Luminous Green Space Marines......

 

After knocking up a quick 2k points list, I ordered the following things

 

Iron Hands Iron Father

Reclusiam Command Squad

Space Marine Battleforce

Techmarine

2 x Tactical Squads

Assault Squad

Devastator Squad

Sternguard Veteran Squad

Vanguard Veteran Squad

4 Razorbacks

and the Forge World Character Conversion and Iron Hands Tactical Squad upgrade packs.

 

Here's what I have at the minute with the rest due for delivery within the next few days

So the plan is to get everything assembled, cleaned, magnetised(....) and primed ready for painting at the same time, luckily I have an airbrush!!!

 

So yeah that's my plan and I'll be using this topic to keep myself on track with regular-ish updates.

Finally managed to get the rest of my troops delivered also decided to go with a 2 Demi Company list so picked up an extra Vanguard Veteran squad, Devastator Squad, Attack Bike and Librarian from the local GW. Just awaiting the 4 Razorbacks and Turmiel to round off the army.

Quick saturday update. Managed to get both devastator squads, Captain, Chaplain, Librarian and Techmarine cleaned and prepped on the corks. Just waiting for some thinner magnets to be delivered so I can magnetise them all.

Looking good venom. There's something to be said about the new marine codex, because like you and me, we're starting to field large numbers of marines which is awesome! Will continue to follow this thread as you build the 69 marines, tanks and all.

Monday update time. The main thing i've managed to do was getting the Sternguard near finished bar shoulder pads and also the 2 Vanguard squads and the Assault squad prepped, mounted and arm slots magnetized. Also did some other minor bits like the converted Relic Blade and magnetised the Chaplain with a jump pack.

 

Don't think I'll get anything really done tomorrow as I'm going down the local GW for beginners night again to get some practice in, but for now enjoy the pics!

For me a space marine army should be loads of marines supplemented with a few vehicles and not the other way around. So I was really glad to see the Gladius Strike Force detachment in the new codex. Plus that rule for free transports is amazing...

 

Finally my package has arrived from Armorcast, cant wait to spread a few of these around the army!!

Looking forward to seeing this project develop, this is something ive always wanted to do, build an army all at the same time from the start rather than unit by unit.

Time for a long overdue update. Army is 99% cleaned, magnetised and assembled, just a tiny bit of filling to be done for accidental drilling mistakes... About 50% are primed with anyone who is going to be luminous green being primed with Vallejo Nato Green and then a few parts in various stages of painting. So on with the photos, Hope you enjoy!
