Clarification on relics

Recommended Posts

Okay lets get down to it. There's disagreement with relics in the GK codex and I was wondering what you guys think? So the argument for one relic per model comes from 'model can take one of these' and the counter argument comes from the unit entries that says 'May take items from melle weapons, terminator weapons, special issue wargear and/or relics of titan lists' what do you guys think

The counter argument is incredibly weak, because it does not change the clarity with which the Relic section is written. If the Relics section had just said that each Relic can only be taken once per army, then you could take multiples, but it is followed by saying that a model can take 1 of the next relics. The only way to read that sentence is that you can only take 1 Relic per model. It's the sole reason that sentence exists.

While the "may take items from" sentence is written poorly, one can make the case there that it's written that way to save some space/words, that sentence can be taken in differrent ways.

I don't mind rule arguments at all, but this is not a good one. At the very best (and I'm being generous here) it's a very doubtfull case and you should opt for the weakest alternative (1 relic per army) as it is a permissive rulesset.

I wish it was otherwise though, I'd love to put multiple relics on a Libby or Brother Captain.
