Why would the aura that a blank emits stop it from being plausible?

From books I've read, blanks have an aura that negativity affects people's mood and emotions, where as Primarchs are supposed to be super charismatic and inspiring to those around them...

I guess this guy could be an exception, but would the Emperor have made one of his sons a blank?

While I admit a blank would be utterly impossible, perhaps have him designed to be more resistant to the influences of the Warp? Less like a Culexus and more like a [Filthy blue xeno from the future], not soul-less but with less-soul.

Alright then, primarch time:

I have changed his rules to reflect him not being a blank but being warp resistant. I was also thinking of having a replacement for librarian centurions as well who will do a similar, but less good, version of psychic suppressant. Thoughts?

Simison, I've just had a look over your stuff; I love it! I was wondering how you (and others) get such official looking legion-specific crusade army lists. Is there a template?

For my legion, Griftofer did all of the work turning the legion into an official-looking appendix. I don't know if he's made it to Raktra's legion yet.

For Athrawes' II Legion, I know he asked Algrim Whitefang to do some work, before the Forge Masters and Cold Winter took over and are halfway(?) through.

As of now, I know the Forge Masters are too busy to ask for help. I'm not sure what Algrim is up to these days, but he seems like a busy fellow from our brief correspondence. Grift, typically hangs out in the Heresy 30k forums, and might be available.

Sorry I don't have more info then that. Like I've said, I've been out of it for almost a month.

But thanks for reading up on my legion! I've hit a pause, but I still intend to finish the project.

Thanks for the help guys. Throughout this morning I've been working on more stuff for the second legion in addition to the primarchs above.

First of all, legion specific special rules:

Legiones Astartes (II):

Adamantium will. Additionally, if the army's warlord is killed, the entire army gains Feel No Pain (6+) and may re-roll one dice when making morale, fear or pinning tests.

Piercing Blow: This weapon ignores armour saves on To Wound rolls of 5+

And now, another important figure. After their Primarch is killed, he coordinates the defence of their world in what would become the last stand of the Second Legion.

Karl Volkov, 1st Captain of the Second

He will be expensive, if you hadn't noticed!

And now, a first snippet of fluff regarding the second.

From over the sound of clanking dishes, Iosif could barely make out something else. A low rumble, seeming to come from both everywhere and nowhere all at once. He hauled himself out of his chair, walking into the kitchen.

"Do you hear that?"

His wife nodded, a look of confusion plastered across her face. Iosif put down his mug. The sound was louder now, and he could feel the very walls of the house shaking.

"What is it?"

"What is it Iosif?"

Ignoring her, Iosif pulled on a thick coat and stepped through the door into the street. The sound was almost unbearable. He looked up, and then he saw them. The stars. The stars were falling.

Iosif ran back inside, locking the door behind him, shouting warnings before ducking under a table. A loud noise. A blindingly bright light. Silence.

As soon as he dared, Iosif poked his head around the door. There was a hole the size of four houses carved into the middle of the street. And in it, there lay a small box, made of glass and metal. Iosif took a tentative step forward. Another. And another. He reached down, and took the box in his hands, carrying in back into the house.

"Look," he said, dropping the box on the table with a thud. "Look what I -"

He was interrupted by the sound of something crying. A baby. There was a baby in the box that had fallen from the skies.

These characters are good in concept, but you're making them more powerful than the unique characters and Primarchs of the other Legion.

If I was to create house rules for unique warriors I wouldn't want to put them above the official ones...

I'm not all too well versed in the Heresy rules. Who and where needs toning down?

Edit: comparing Volkov to Sigismund, I realize he's a little good. As such, I'll be changing some of his stats. I want him to be good enough to have a chance against XI, but to be marginally worse than Siggy

Edit number two: I have debuffed Diabolus to be only charging if he does not scatter when deep striking, decreased the range on some of II's anti-psykers stuff, etc.

Finished my first round through the topic, mostly focused on the fluff. I'll take a look at the rules on my next run-through. So far, I like what I'm seeing, though blank Primarchs are incredibly popular these days. (Admittedly, my version of the XIth is a blank as well, different universe from Alex-Raktra's though.)

While you have a pretty good idea on what kind of man your primarch is, I'm not sure I'm getting alot of vibes on your legion. In case I missed it, can you tell me what they're specialties are?

The identity of the II Legion during the early crusade is one of the liberator, killing the tyrannical xenos races that are enslaving humanity, specializing in fighting psychic races like the eldar. They are painfully loyal to their Primarch, so once his attitude changes and he realizes that humanity is becoming the tyrant he seeks to fight, his legion follow. His last words to them we're to fight until their last breath to defend their world, and so they become relentless warriors shrugging if casualties like there's no tomorrow (hence the Legiones Astartes rule).

The XI Legion specialize in more covert operations, ranged fighting, etc. Their Primarch is called the Ghost of the Sands, so that is kinda the image they seek to follow. However, their is a rivalry between the Terran and native sections of the legion. As the Primarch becomes more and more unpredictable, and favours none for too long, they try to outdo each other. This rivalry leads to infighting. Once the Primarch has his moment of lucidity and sees what he has become, he goes completely silent. The Legion take this up to honour him, which is why the sons of malice fight in silence.

I think that might have answered your question!

If you're looking for an Appendix for your Legion then I can help you out with it as I did for simison and have offered to Raktra. However for remixing and recolouring of Legion arms, armour and vehicles you'd need to find someone else as I haven't really figured out the knack for it.

Onto your Legion stuff. I think there's some nice ideas in here, interestingly similar to some thoughts I've had on the matter. So I look forward to seeing where this goes.

Ish. I was thinking more rule-wise. Your II definitely has an anti-psyker theme going, but do they have anything else they do? My Wardens are specialists in defensive war scenarios, along with experts in psyker warfare with a dash of inter-legionary buffs. It's been awhile, but, if I remember right, most of the legions have a primary specialty with a secondary. The IW are siegers with a stubborn streak. The Fists like their bolters and holding the walls.

Then I took another look at the legions and realized several of them have their LA (X) rules focused on one aspect. So, I guess my real question is do they have any other area of warfare that they have an edge in?

Thanks Grifftofer, very kind.

Simison, rules wise the second have a bunch of Feel no Pain, Fearless/ leadership buffed units to represent their relentlessness and ability to fight on no matter the odds. The Eleventh are going to be stealthy, ranged and focus on varying methods of deployment.

Whenever the hell I get my finger out and finish I'll be taking you up on the offer...

I have recently been researching pre-Islamic Arabian mythology and have decided that this is what the Eleventh shall be based on. To that end, I have renamed the Primarch and am thinking about coming up with a unique unit called Djinn, specializing in stealth. More on them soon.

Next, I have been concocting some rules for smoke grenades. If these already exist, please tell me.

Smoke grenades:

During the shooting phase, instead of firing one of its weapons, a model may use a smoke grenade. Place a small blast marker anywhere within 8" of the firer. It then scatters 2D6 minus the firer's ballistic skill. Alternatively, the marker can be placed directly over the firer. It does not scatter if dropped in this manner. Either way, anything within or being targeted through the blast marker gain a 5+ cover save. The marker is treated as difficult terrain for movement and charging purposes. These effects cease at the start of the next friendly shooting phase.

I have also been thinking about creating a Terran captain for the eleventh who goes by Jon Lawrence. He's going to be a Moritat variant with an archeotech pistol (only one, mind, so as not to make anyone cry) and will feature prominently in the fall of the XI. Again, more on him later.

I personally think the idea that sigmar is a lost primarch is pretty ludicrous. I mean, all 20 primarchs were found, alpharius being the last. The 2 unkown were hinted at being destroyed bu Russ. Also, Sigmar is not even in the same universe as 40k.

You know, you're the first one I've heard that suggest using smoke grenades for infantry use. I like it.

Also, as far as Jon is concerned...

I'm Not sure which heresy book I read it in,

But there are two redacted files fairly early on in the crusade, both of which show the legion involved as the space wolves alone.

Looking at it, Id say as russ is the emperors executioner, Russ exterminated the 2 legions before the thousand sons.

Those two references have been stated by Forgeworld to have nothing to do with the lost legions, one of them represents the night of the wolf, the other is left unexplained but has been explicitly stated in questions to Forgeworld to have nothing to do with the lost Legions.
