++ Casual 30K Hobby Challenge - July: A last ETL push ++

---- July ----

Well it was a quiet June, with a lower participation in the Casual Challenge than we've had recently. We still saw some great completions though, and helped push things forward in the ETL. Now we are in the last month of the ETL, and we NEED a final push to secure victory for the Horus Heresy formum! Lets make sure lots of our casual challenge work appears as pledges to the ETL.

We all know how this works by now, pledge some models to paint this month, build your armies, and enjoy the opportunity to stick it to the traitors/emperor. Full rules can now be found in the Hall of Victors thread - where anyone involved so far should feel happy to post their full army shots!

Finally, I'd like last month's players to cast their votes over the next three days for their favourite traitor and loyalist pledges from June! Voting rules:

- vote for your favourite loyalist pledge, and favourite traitor pledge

- don't vote for the champion from each team, they get to show off in the hall of vistors anyway

- make your votes clear so I don't miss them!

Lets see some support for those players who have impressed or inspired you!

So brothers and sisters, for the Emperor or for Horus let's see some pledges!

I'll pledge the last of my 3k vow, for the allies of Horus, the XIVth Legion (havn't been using the WIP thread, doh - I was just posting in the main ETL thread. Doh!):

2 Apothecaries

2 Rapiers

5 Destroyers

Predator Executioner

Finishing touches to Mortarion.

Oh, look! Morty and the Pred I finished an hour ago :-D just leaves me the Apothecaries, Rapiers and Destroyers.

Great to have you involved Grand Master, and there are are some great vows here already.

So I'm now in the process of buying a house, so I'm a bit unsure of my time - as such I'm going to pledge small, and hope to vow again later.

I Kor'Vesh, being long of limb and slow of brush, pledge to paint one Mechanicum Magos, sworn to the Legio Tempestus, in the month of July.

I also vote for the glorious Justaerin of RichMarine for the traitorous team, and the exceptional yellow flying brick of Lion of Judah for the loyalists!

Awe thanks for the love of the flying yellow brick guys :)

Gotta say those DG are quite spiffy- the exhausts of your plasmacutioner are top notch grand master!

I'm also in the process of buying a house and am so grateful for this hobby its ridiculous.

IVe got to finish my ETL pledge with my Archeon...

And will also need to add another vox, and a few other dudes, a knight tech priest and a magos- will get the points together later on.

new pledge for July and ETL .  First tank ever but now that I have an airbrush and my new son is sleeping through the night there are no holds barred and i can make as much big boom boom as the VII legion needs to keep dem pesky traitor dogs outa the Imperial Palace

probably ass is for this one and focus one learning how to use an airbrush and then maybe some more elaborate stuff on subsequent tanks i have a load of old templar panels from the old gw plastic templar upgrade kit that i have never used that if this goes well will festoon future rhinos

A work in progress of my vow and a pictographic journey into the wild and wonderful world of airbrushing.

at this point i was worried i had presided way to dark and that i would never get it to colour match my infantry but patience and and good old VII legion stubborn thinking would yield better results as i carried on.

Colour match is getting closer I know I go against the grain with painting canary legion fists and then getting darker as opposed to basing in brown and working lighter towards my golden yellow but i find it much easier to colour match model to model by slowly shading darker its just more gradual and forgiving to my modest skills.

and as far as the airbrush goes its not as steep of a learning curve as i was afraid of its a bit of an investment but when you are paying for the level of detail you get with FW resin it is super rewarding to be able to not lose that detail in layers of brushed on paint and the smoothness is amazing.  if you are on the fence about getting one go for it I have no regrets. just do a little practice on some old models or something to get the knack of thinning you're paints and setting you're pressure and it so rewarding once you get some work done with it
