OneOfOneThousand
Hello all! I'm going to soon be diving into getting started with the AM and wanted to check where I should invest first of all model-wise. I'll be picking up the codex this weekend so I may have more of an idea after that - but there are a few things I've already decided if that help provide advice; 1. I'll be playing Death Korps of Krieg. I'm a forgeworld junkie (also a hersy player) and they look so much more amazing in my opinion than any other guard regiment. 2. Ideally I'd like to field them as Imperial Army too for allying with my heresy stuff so anything overtly 40k whilst I can and will include will be lower priority for me. I'm currently thinking of a command HQ set and a unit of 10 guardsman, plus a GW tank kit but does that sound ok and what tank would you all suggest? Could pick it up with my codex then at the weekend! Thanks all Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/310524-beginning-the-muster/ Share on other sites
WarriorFish
The best place to start is a solid infantry core, especially if you want Krieg. Want to show off those cool models right? Enough for a Platoon (25), a Company Command Squad (5) and at least a Vet squad (10) if not another Platoon for the mandatory 1 HQ and 2 Troop choices. From there you can decide how you'd like to add to this army, for example some cool tanks or artillery. I'm guessing you're thinking of tanks more than artillery for example? I'm looking forward to seeing your army get started, don't forget to get your paints as well :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/310524-beginning-the-muster/#findComment-4110912 Share on other sites
OneOfOneThousand
Ok thanks Warriorfish - might just go with a FW order to start with then and get some infantry down. I love artillery but that does feel a bit more long-terms than a solid start with tank support (that may be the marine player in me talking though!) I'll hopefully be making an order soon and will get working on them ASAP to show off so I'll do my best to keep an army progress post going - it's great incentive if nothing else! Reyner
To get some ideas for using these guys along with your other Heresy stuff make sure you check out the awesome Imperial Militia list in Tempest - it is almost like having Regimental Doctrines back! Ulrik_Ironfist
I have to echo WarriorFish on this. Get a good solid core of infantry, one of each troops choice (you can always break the platoon down into 2 vet squads if need be) for a total of 3 vet squads. I love my vets but that's because they work well for supporting a Stormtrooper based army, like I play. After the infantry, I'd go ahead and get some tanks, maybe a tank commander in a vanquisher (for antitank) and a couple of battle tanks (magnetize everything of course). That's a pretty solid start for Krieg. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/310524-beginning-the-muster/#findComment-4110944 Share on other sites

I've heard that is a good solid list to look at. I'm hoping to find some spare cash for Tempest soon as not picked it up yet but obviously now I'm keen on getting some lovely Krieg models. So much resin, so little cash to buy it all with! On the plus side, it does mean I can give my Alpha Legion a rest for a while now I'm onto another project (and 8k points of the mighty XX!) Ulrik_Ironfist
I'm a bit of a metal junkie myself (I have about 22 of the old Kasrkin), and while that doesn't seem like a lot compared to the guys who's armies are entirely metal, I've been going out of my way to get them instead of the new MIlitarum Tempestus Scions boxes (which are ok, but they look like prussian cuirassiers on foot, which would look decent next to some kriegers). My force is mostly cadians so the scions just look a bit out of place in comparison. The old kasrkin tend to be easier to paint too. There are no real Krieger stormtooper models, you'd likely use grenadiers for them, but that's going to depend on if you want to use them (I don't see kriegers using anything in the elites slot besides stormtroopers, as Ogryns/Bullgryns and ratlings don't really seem to fit in, but that's me...) Lukash_
Keep in mind that the Death Korps has their own rules and army lists in the Siege of Vraks books. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/310524-beginning-the-muster/#findComment-4111256 Share on other sites
