Ferro
Apologies for the clickbait title, and admins move as appropriate. I love the Red Scorpions chapter. They are slick, new kids on the block, and have awesome models. But they worship the Emperor as a god. Isn't that totally not ok? Wasn't that settled about ten thousand years ago during the Heresy when the Word Bearers were told to knock it off. The Emperor is not a god, stop acting crazy. Why is this still a thing in the year 40k+? Are the Red Scorpions going to be the next heretic chapter? Admittedly, they are not fond of chaos like the Heresy era folks. But they are egotistical and arrogant, full of self-righteous pride and superiority... all (arguably) character flaws which could lead to their fall. Are the Red Scorpions descended from the Word Bearers? I love these guys, their origins are shrouded in mystery, and I feel like I'm being set up. Are they good, or... too good? Open thread. Please discuss. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/310718-red-scorpions-are-heretics/ Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
Some Space Marine Chapters adhere the God-Emperor belief of the Imperium, and others merely venerate The Emperor as their creator. The rituals and beliefs of the Space Marine Chapters vary widely, and some are largely unknown outside of the Chapter, and as such are a law unto themselves where their rituals/beliefs are concerned. TLDR; No, no-one is going to excommunicate a Space Marine Chapter for believing in the Imperial Cult. Canadian_F_H
Also for the last few editions the black templars have worshipped the emperor as a god also... And prior to that some fluff said they spent much of their off duty days dedicated to worship, tho at the time it didn't explicitly say they worshipped the emperor... Lay
In the 41st millennium, the events of the Heresy have been mystified, censored or simply forgotten. Since the Emperor is regarded as a god by the rest of the Imperium, it's save to assume that accounts of him renouncing his godhood aren't widely known - if they are known at all. The way Marines look at the Emperor is pretty much a quirk at this point. Even they have daily religious rituals such as prayers and sermons. The way they revere the Emperor and the Primarchs is more akin to ancestor worship. SpecialIssue
Secularism and logic died when science proved that the supernatural was real. Atheism is a lie that the deluded tell themselves in order to hide from the truth. Don't be surprised that some chapters worship the Emperor as a god - in reality, even the ones who still see him as a man 'revere' him in ways that would be indistinguishable to worship to us. And worship of the Emperor is actually pretty justifiable. He ticks a lot of boxes for actually being a god. Dusktiger
This thread is far too much of a troll-bait thread. The fact you know full well that's what you're doing by apologizing for the thread title because it is baiting all of the veteran players here who play this chapter is proof enough you know better. Threads like this that start off on the premise of outright baiting other players into "discussions" that are little more than opportunities to argue and ruffle feathers of the other frater are not allowed here as they do not promote constructive conversation. (if you wish to argue that point, do look up the definition of constructive in a dictionary first; too many people these days seem to forget what constructive discussion actually is.)
