I'm looking at having a heresy Emperor's Children army to go with my Chaos Marines. I just have no clue how to start. I know I'm looking at 1000 points to start with, and  I'm also looking to include one Children specific unit, plus one dreadnought. Something like:

Praetor with jump pack

120 points

10 man tactical squad in a rhino

185 points

10 man assault squad

250 points

5 palatine blades with jump packs

185 points

740 points total

After that, I'm trying to figure out which type of dreadnought to get, and what sort of special equipment to get everyone with the last 260 points. Or would it be better to acquire the 30 man tactical bundle and replace the assault squad with a 20 man tactical with an apothecary?

Hey bro, i recommend you hit the tactica for EC on this forum.

But something i would recommend is looking at the EC rite of war in the forgeworld itsvaan books (red ones)

Pretty much you must take 2 hqs one being a champion but you get to select 1-3 fast attack or elites to come on from reserve turn one-two or three.

Emperors children are all about moving quickly and tactical diversity but more moving quickly.

So bikes, flyers, land speeders are great.

If you are running infantry with no invul or transport then take an apothecary.

id recomend taking a barebone predator with lascannons (fluffy) or heavy bolters.. 115points of 4 autocannons and 2 las cannon.

good squad is 5-10 volkite support squad in a pod, or melta if you want to go extreme but again id recommend putting an apothecary with them.

Spartan with flare shields 320 points is deadly and can fit 20 marines..

fire raptor gunship with reaper autocannons at 210 is amazing!!

also kit your HQ's up, after all they are most likely your warlord.

A Chaplain at 85 base, give him artificer armour, refractor field (5++) and he comes with a free power weapon is 105 points. he gives reroll to hit for his unit on the charge in combat.

much more aswell haha..
