Nearing the finish. Conversion nearly done!

Several years ago they started rolling out models for new flyers. They didn't have anything for the Sons of Russ. I know we are supposed to fight on foot as Russ intended, but the people of Fenris spend most of their lives on ships. So I started working on a conversion to show this side of the Fenrisian people.

First of all I needed a base model that looked ship-like. So I was looking at the Ravager.

It was about the size of a rhino, but just didn't feel right to me.

One day I was looking around and saw the Ghost Ark. That had a better shape to it. So I started work from there.

Was going to run strips of plastic to build a hull around those ribs. But I couldn't get it all to lay right. So I

found a longship model and modified my hull design.

Next problem was how to field it. It's too big for a Rhino. Maybe a Landraider, or just make up some rules for it. About that time life got in the way. We weren't playing much and I stopped following B&C.

Here recently I found some motivation to get back into 40K, and with 7th Ed. I can now work this beast into a counts as for a

Stormwolf.

Got a hold of a guy at my local store that owns a Stormwolf and got measurements. Bought the last bits I needed from ebay and have finally finished building. Need to greenstuff some seams and start painting. Hope to have some pitures up tomorrow of what I have so far.

Using the measurements I was given I mounted the lascannons, missile launchers, and TL Helfrost. Due to the shape of the hull I had to move the

launcher to the underside and toward the rear a little. All in all weapons are positioned very closely to where they should be on the Stormwolf.

With the deck space I should be able to place at least 10 Greyhunters on the deck.

That is very much personal taste I would say matey, to my eye it doesn't need them and I like the sleek lines of the hull as they are but if you put some on there it would give it a very cool longboat aesthetic, your call on that one brother :)

Well done, i love this idea, and it would be very cool to face on the battlefield.

Shields seem to be a part of the Longboat theme, so maybe a few well placed Storm shields would just give it that extra touch.

Looking forward to seeing more of the pictures of this.

brilliant concept, it's better than some of the GW stuff out there.

Should you put shields along the side?  On a Awesome Viking Space-Longship ??  Of COURSE you should :)

Looking forward to seeing that baby painted ....

While I've been working on this I had a revelation on what I'm going to use as it's name. This craft is now named "Ironside".

I was painting the pilot when it occurred to me that it looked like a man in a wheelchair:

Which put me in mind of an old TV series from the 60's and 70's called Ironside. Veteran police office shot and paralyzed continues to solve

crime from his wheelchair. Also "Old Ironsides" is the nickname of the USS Constitution. Sounds like a good name to me...Even if my brain works

weird.
