The age old question, how stick with your legion?

Recommended Posts

I'm a self-confessed utter nightmare when it comes to sticking with one legion! So much so in fact that everytime a new legion specific unit comes out I get a jokey text from my mate who asks me if I'm getting into that Legion now biggrin.png

That said, I settled on Alpha Legion a while back and now have 7k points almost painted. The reason I chose them was down to the fact they mirror how I like to operate - I'm not a showman, I'm a thinker and my job involves pulling the strings behind the scenes whilst others take the lead (I work on Strategic stuff) so that fitted nicely with the XX.

Now I've got them to a good size (and have added other legions units in there to 'scratch the itch' whilst I was working on them) I've been looking at a new project. Originally I was going down the allies route and have small III and VIII allied contingents bought and partially painted. But then my mate and I were texting about us doing Calth and BOOM, the Word Bearers instantly became my new army focus.

On the plus side, that means that I'm heading to Warhammer World early August to spend an inordinate amount of money on the XVII. The bad side, well let's just hope I dont change my mind...

yea, that is a problem many have. Here is how i go about choosing a legion:

1: first of all decide, what you want, Traitor, or Loyalist, choose your side and don't look back.

2: than read about the Legions as much as you can get. perhabes there is one kind of tactic you are really into, perhabes you love painting and collecting tanks? or what about a lot of Terminators?

3: Paint a Test Mini, i would recommend, to use an old Storm of Blackreach or Storm of Vengance Model, because FW isn't really cheap and you'll get frustrated, when you are not pleased with the result.

4: The most important step. Just do it. I have plenty of friends that where overthinking what army they want to build so i never really finnished a big army. When you're painting a colour you like and you see your army get bigger and bigger, i personally experienced, that you don't have a problem anymore to stick with your choice smile.png

Mine was simple. I picked an army and the amount of money I have restricted me to stick with that army.

Budget is never a problem for me.

ok so:

1. I love both,so this is kinda tricky

2. I've read all the novels, wiki page and sorts. To be honest I like all forms of combat, but what sticks to me is always ranged combat.

3. cant't say on number 3

4. well I like green, but painting salamanders will be a pain IMO
