tetsuokills
With the release of Tempest I decided to take a short break from playing Solar Auxilia / AdMech and dusted off my Iron Warriors force. I've been having a lot of fun with the following army list recently and thought I'd share what I've currently been having some success with. Lord of War Perturabo [455] Rite of War - Pride of the Legion HQ Legion Consul - Siege Breaker [130] Cataphractii Terminator armour Combi-bolter, Powersword Nuncio-vox Damocles Command Rhino [100] Elites Legion Rapier Weapons Battery [60] Thud Gun Legion Rapier Weapons Battery [60] Thud Gun Tyrant Siege Terminators [295] Tyrant Siege Terminators [295] Troops Legion Terminator Squad [270] +1 Terminator 5 Combi-Plasma 1 Plasma blaster 1 Chainfist 1 Powerfist Legion Terminator Squad [270] +1 Terminator 5 Combi-Plasma 1 Plasma blaster 1 Chainfist 1 Powerfist Legion Terminator Squad [230] 5 Combi-Melta 2 Chainfist Fast Attack Legion Jetbike Sky Hunter Squadron [150] Volkite Culverin Shrapnel bolts Meltabombs (Sgt. only) Legion Jetbike Sky Hunter Squadron [150] Volkite Culverin Shrapnel bolts Meltabombs (Sgt. only) Heavy Support Legion Land Raider Proteus [270] Explorator Augury Web Armoured Ceramite Whirlwind Scorpius [115] Fortification Vengeance Battery [150] +1 Vengeance Battery 2 Quad Icarus Lascannon The five units of Terminators will deepstrike, hopefully without scatter on the first game turn (dependent on enemy reserves / deployment). The Jetbikes can either start on the board or deepstrike in from reserve. Perturabo can start the game on foot, embarked upon the Land Raider Proteus (which scouts up) or deepstrike in from reserve. Supporting fire from the Thud Guns, Whirlwind, Jetbikes and the precision bombardments help the Terminators in their alpha strike and helps to whittle down troops, objective holders and as many weight of fire threats as possible. Jetbikes work in tandem with Thud Guns to whittle down and pin as many units as possible whilst the Terminators focus down the more elite threats. Fangbanger
For me personally, I don't see enough bodies there for 3000 points. Sure termies are a tad more resilient, but not by much and at 3000 points, people will be taking things that can hurt them be it super heavies with large strength templates or sheer weight of fire from multiple numbers. That being said, I think your termies units are strong and if you prorating your targets well, could be a devastating alpha strike. Especially for someone who likes to castle up but against a more mobile army, might struggle a bit as once your termies are down, they won't be moving anywhere very fast Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/310866-3000pt-iron-warriors-force-alpha/#findComment-4119090 Share on other sites
