501 Cadian Mechanized Combined Regement

Recommended Posts

The Cadian 501, my regiment.

I wanted a bit more color than the standard guard army, but I like the Cadian 8th colors. So, I took that scheme and made some changes. Instead of khaki shirts and pants with green armor, I went with a scheme semi based on the marine corps dress uniform. Light green armor with red stripes on the hermit and shoulder pads, khaki shirts, and dark green pants with red stripes down the sides.

Still working on the lore, but I'm thinking they're the children of Cadians across the empire that want to live up to their parents legacy.

The regiment is a work in progress, but I'm only showing completely painted models here.

I agree, a very nice colour scheme well executed! The red tops it off nicely. I like the mohican sergeant too, good use of the Wolf Scout heads I might have to steal (though without the hair, as such an infraction of regimental discipline wouldn't be tolerated :P ) :) What models do you have left in the painting queue? Any tanks?

They look good. Are you restricting the blood stripe to NCO's and Officers?

No, the officers and sergeants will be distinguished by the obvious chainsword pistol combo and the fact that no two sergeants have the same head and no two officers are identical

That's a nice colour scheme, red stripes look good and sharp. What are you adding next?

I'm going to finish 7 total chimeras, adding red stripes to tie them to the regiment. Then it'll be at least one master of the fleet and astropath. Topped off, for this current list, with a plasma Russ and some infantry special weapons to cycle in and out.

The red is a nice addition, works well as a spot colour and I've used it well as a colour to tie your commissar to the grunts. Similar question as lurid how are you going to designate your officers?

Thank you, I chose it because red pops vibrantly against green. Officers have different weapons and no two are the same in this army (see above)

Perhaps I'll figure out a way to make them more distinct. currently the stripes are Mephiston red with evil sunz scarlet highlights. Perhaps I'll start layering the Mephiston with sunz and use wild rider highlights on the officers to make them brighter.

See above for most, but I'm working out how to incorporate red stripes and "501" onto vehicles I've already painted. Additionally, my collection is growing and I'd like more of everything. As for the space wolf heads, I like the space wolves lore and how you can earn their respect in addition to complimenting guards lack of good melee non blob units... In addition to having blood claw blobs.

Latest additions

Leman Russ

Exterminator

Demolisher

Chimera 05

Chimera 04

Finished tanks, I'd like to incorporate red into their color schemes. Not sure exactly how since I'd liek to do it in a unique way, advice is welcome

Incomplete Artillery, I'd like to use red on them differently than on the Chimeras, again advice is welcome.

I like the camo, a different pattern I've not considered before but it works especially with the red additions. It adds some variety and is a good choice of red to match the rest of the scheme :tu: What about a bit of red on the missile warheads for the Manticore, and a vertical stripe on the shield for the Wyvern?

The weathering is nice, the only thing I see is the lenses might need a gloss varnish? Hard to tell if its there on pictures sometimes. Keep the models coming :D

For such things you need to do eye catching stuff I think, so while the platform is cool some bells and whistles would help. Building the models so they "fit" and match the board goes a long way too, I'm afraid it's serious business so you've got to go the extra mile (or two) to get the attention!

My 1850 taking all comers list, the picture quality is a bit crap but I'm not at home at the moment and it's done up to 2000 points. I'm just happy it's done to a fully playable level.

It's made of a combined arms detachment and an emperor's blade formation

CAD: HQ tank commander exterminator with sponson heavy bolters and las cannon with demolisher squad mate

two vet squads with camo cloaks, two vanilla Russes, a manticore, and a lv 1 primaris rolling on divination

Emperor's Blade: three vet squads with carapace, vox, and dozer blade chimeras

one is vanilla las guns, one has three melta, and the last has three plasma guns

comm has vox, med kit, astropath, master of the fleet, and a dozer blade on his chimera

hellhound has a dozer blade

not with 2-3 backfield obkjectives

What if you don't have 2-3 backfield objectives? What if you're facing a light armor list? You'll need something for taking some long range shots.

Perhaps you have a point. I mean, all I have for that is four Leman Russ heavy tanks, a Manticore that's likely to be twin-linked, four Chimeras, a maxed out melta squad and a maxed out plasma squad, and a Hellhound. What could I possibly do about a light armor list in a maelstrom of war heavy meta?

Forgive me for missing those elements. Still WF has a point about having those camo vets without upgrades. Having some autocannons in those units might go a ways towards freeing up those heavy vehicles for killing bigger targets. Or maybe give them a heavy bolter for putting out some higher strength anti-personnel fire while the camp those backfield objectives. Or hey, how about a mortar team, so they can help out from long range?

I was trying to help, you don't need to be so snarky about it.
