2,5000 points of Ultramarines

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I posted this earlier but I think the crash ate it smile.png

I'm a long time 40k Ultramarine player... but recently I've also been feeling the pull of collecting a 30k army. I love the setting, the Legions and all that. Also helps that now the Primarch has been released (I'm a big fan of Know No Fear).

I'll be taking my time assembling and acquiring the list, so it's open to change - I don't really know much about 30k so if you could tell me how the list looks I'd appreciate it:

Lord of War:

Robute Guilliman

- 400 pts

HQ:

Consul Champion
- Legatine Axe (Master-Crafted), Meltabombs, Artificer Armour and Refractor Field - 130 pts

Elites:

Honoured Telemechrus

- 255 pts

Legion Apothecary
- Arificer armour and Power Weapon - 70 pts

Troops:

Invictus Suerzains

- 5 Suerzain with Legatine Axes and Boarding Shields

- Land Raider Phobos with Extra Armour and Armoured Ceramite - 480 pts

Legion Tactical Squad

- 10 Marines

- Sergeant has a combi-plasma

- Rhino with a Dozer Blade - 200 pts

Fast Attack:

Xiphon Interceptor

- Chaff Counter-measures - 210 pts

Heavy Support:

Legion Heavy Support Squad
- 8 Marines with Volkite Culverins - 275 pts

Deimos Vindicator Laser Destroyer

- Siege Shield - 140 pts

Deimos Vindicator Laser Destroyer

- Siege Shield - 140 pts

2,500 pts

How it works in my head:

The Master of Signal improves the accuracy of the Heavy Support Squad, combined with the Ultramarine legion rule they should put out a lot of hurt on GEQ/MEQ units (and they seem pretty good vs light vehicles too). One apothecary goes here to make them a little more resilient as they don't have a transport etc.

Robute makes the Vindicators really reliable tank hunters who bring some large blast to the table, and with the Suerzain+Apothecary he gives me some counter-punch potential. If anyone's got any ideas about how to spend that ten points let me know smile.png

The Xiphon seems like a really good anti-air fighter and I took Telemechrus because I think he's awesome. He brings another pretty resilient chassis to the table and I'm sort of hoping he'll get an amazing model somewhere down the line.

Please let me know if there's anything that seems wrong (I'm working from my copy of the first Heresy Book which I bought when it was first released).

Thanks

Like the mobile look of it... Only thing I see is the MoS cannot be your only HQ. I think a centurion champion rolling with the superman would be fluffy and meet your HQ need. Heavy squad is not mobile and does not 'fit' with the rest of your armies mobility.

I've not really looked at the xiphon so can't speak to its effectivess and do have to say I like the BSG look of it;)

Thanks for pointing out the MoS error (I even looked at the FAQ yesterday! Must have been too tired). :)

I agree that a Centurion inclusion is the best way of solving the HQ situation and I have a model for that which I can use already painted, so that's handy.

I'd originally got the points wrong for the Heavy Squad so I've amended the list - I agree that the heavies lack the mobility of some of the other choices, but I'm not sure what else I'd replace them for to get the same effect. Although now that affect is diminished by their reduces numbers and there's no more Master of Signals.

Honestly at 2500 I think you need some more heavy something and I would try and make sure the tacs get a vexilla to give them a better chance to stand and fight instead of running at a wound.

Perhaps if you dropped the Phobos and the HSS and traded I. For a spartan and a few more suzerian you would have a BIG fire magnet that can put the hurt on just about anything with armored ceramite and a flare shield- plus that beast will keep robute alive a lil longer than the Phobos.
