I've picked up a lvl 3 space wolf tactical guy, but can't bring myself to put him in the squad because his dogface helmet is just so ugly.

I feel you Stercus.

The last two card packs I've gone through have each had a Rank 4 Astartes...

I think the game is irritated with my attempt to craft an all Ultra close combat squad :D

Three wolves in a row? That's some kind of wonky random number generator surely?

To be fair, a few folks online and in the review section on the App store both are starting to bring forward complaints that the loot generation is very far from actually "random."

The one that stood out to me was a gent from the App store who ran the 2.1 mission 50 times and only got maybe 6 different items from Rank 1-3.

The Bro Fist Pistol

This is the only piece of Lv 4 gear I have, so I thought I'd share a fun little fact about it: Murder has 40% extra shots for within half range, but the pistol itself only has a range of 3 and turns out the game rounds fractional ranges down, so you only get 40% extra shots if you're right next to the target. Of course, that's not a problem, except for the fact that every character that can take a pistol will also have a melee weapon and opt to use that at close quarters laugh.png

So literally the only way to get the bonus shots is if you overwatch an enemy spawn at point blank range. 'Tis a silly gun.

As long as the game remains fun, I'm not too worried about a bad randomiser. I do remember in warhammer quest though, when I was encountering "random" wandering gangs of top tier beasties five or six turns in a row and getting ripped apart by sheer attrition that was what finally made me put the game away.

It also seems to be the only piece of wargear (or marine for that matter) that has a Chapter specific perk without the prerequisite of the wielder being from that chapter.

I'd give it to a Space Wolf... for the GLORY OF RUSS AND MACRAGGE!

Heh, I only use Murder for the Bro Buff on my Assault Marine.

I basically don't attack with him at all, I just run him up, pop Hunker Down and wait for Counter Attack.

Here he is super buffed and about to engage the Hive Tyrant on Vet. I managed to kill him in one turn (along with some ranged help).

Now starting the last Campaign set. Already having some trouble with the Horde on Mission 2.

On Vet, when my strategy of using my Counter Attack - Assault Marine works ; it can be easy. Like on the last stage, I killed the Hive Guard, Broodlord, Carnifex and Hive Tyrant with my AM in one turn each respectively.

But sometimes I misjudge the timing and end up getting swarmed by too many Nids on consecutive turns, before my Hunker Down has recharged and when I'm out of Immunity Purity Seals. Or sometimes, I misjudge the distances and a big Nid goes after a different squad member rather than my tanking AM.

I lost my whole squad on VII-II Cleanse and Purge because my AM got tied up by a Hive Tyrant, then two Tyranid Warriors, while a Hive Guard one shotted my Devastator. I had thought Guard would shoot at my AM because my AM was closer, but he actually decided to shoot my Dev because he had a clear angle to my Dev even though my Dev was further away. Silly mistake.

Or, sometimes the big Nids have random abilities that are just impossible. Like I once got a Hive Tyrant that had both Onslaught which gave him 8 AP and also Catalyst which made him immune to Crit. I couldn't damage him enough and I ran out of Hunker Down and Immunity before he killed my AM, then the rest of my squad because he was so fast moving and I couldn't Grav him. Luckily, when I restarted, he had a different set of abilities and I managed to take him down.

I think the main thing is - even if you don't rely on Counter Attack, it's still important to have at least one Marine with Hunker Down or an equivalent ability to stand up front and Tank. I'm finding that is even more important on Heroic difficulty.

Edit - That's why I like the Ultramarines III Champion Assault better then the Ultramarines IV Honor Guard Assault. The III Champion has Hunker Down (90% Damage Mitigation for 1 Turn), as well as passive Brawler (30% Melee Damage Mitigation) and Resilient (15% Damage Mitigation). He makes an excellent Tank.

Ok Heroic Difficulty is really hard.

Even the Gaunts have 400hp and have random Abilities.

This Gaunt has Onslaught:

This Gaunt has Paroxysm:

I nearly got overrun in that Act 2-1 Mission before escaping. You can't see because of BLOS but the upper right and upper left corners are completely full of Gaunts:

That's good, right? I ripped through nearly the entire game without losing a single marine (only against the carnifex) on normal. Veteran is more challenging and I'm really needing to think on how to finish the levels (and losing the odd marine). I may need to farm some experience.

Heh, found a bug. The IV Wolf Tactical has a skill that has a 2% chance of applying -1AP on a Nid for every shot. But it can stack. And if it stacks, it becomes permanent. I gave him an IV Flamer that has an 8 Volley Count and he applies that de buff pretty frequently.

Here's a Hive Guard with -6AP. He can't move, lol.

Also, while I'm still relying on my Power Fist Ultra Assault III to take out big Nids, I'm finding that the BA Assault with the following is much better at tanking hordes of little Nids. As long as he's killing, he can't die.

Yeah, I run my Sanguinary Guard at the little guys and he just cuts them down, I got through a mission with him once as the only survivor as they would surround him, and he would keep regenerating enough to just keep moving towards the exit point.

I got the Ultra IV Purity Seal, +5% passive health healing is pretty solid I would think.

Wait, after four game turns it gets +500% damage?

Haha, what turn did you find it on, Kilo?

I was going really slow because I didn't think I had a time limit on this mission and even the Pyrovors are 2.5K and hurt. It must have been Turn 6 or something when that one Warrior popped out from behind the corner and one shotted my IV Tac Wolf, then one shotted my Ultra Assault in a single turn. Then my Dev did barely like 300 damage to it before dying, leaving just my Grav Tac and Apoth in the pic above. I got wiped shortly after. There's actually another Warrior hiding behind the crates on the right with some sort of grenades. He would pop out, shoot then go back into hiding.

@Scribe - yeah it's the get to the base mission

Nearly got jammed up again:

This time I used all my Grenades, and my bugged AP stealing Flamer Tac, and managed to pull through.
