DanforthLaertes
As I have posted in the WIP forum, I am using the Age of Sigmar Sigmarites to make Space Marines. I am using the Winged Dudes for Assault Marines. However, the figures really require a 40mm base to stand up effectively. I was thinking of using a 40mm base, but having something on the base to show where the "actual" base is. I thought that some ruined columns would be good - if they were 25mm in diameter, they would be the perfect size. The trailing scrolls could be attached to them. It used to be the case you could get plaster wedding cake pillars - but now they are all plastic! And they don't shatter into ruins easily. Any suggestions for a source for 25mm ruined columns? Resin would be nice, but plastic would work well too. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311198-25mm-columns/ Share on other sites
DanforthLaertes
I found this Hirst Art mold http://www.hirstarts.com/tips15/tips15.html#42 which looks pretty sweet - some nice pieces for generic 40K terrain, too! But, any other suggestions are welcome! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311198-25mm-columns/#findComment-4124046 Share on other sites
Lucien Eilam
I was thinking of using a 40mm base, but having something on the base to show where the "actual" base is. There are effectively no restrictions on basing your miniatures in 40k. Stick them on 40mm if that's what you want to do. Personally, I'd be pretty pissed off if you expected me to measure to your basing material instead of the base all game. DanforthLaertes
Well, I just didn't want to tick off ANYONE. I wouldn't insist on any particular type of measuring - but if someone was like "no, a 40mm base gives you an advantage ..." Gordon Shumway
You can still get plaster cake pillars https://www.squires-shop.com/uk/catalogue/plaster-cake-pillars Or there's these http://www.secretweaponminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=52&products_id=201 Or these http://www.secretweaponminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13&products_id=438 What I like to use is wooden dowel pins. They carve nicely. http://www.lowes.com/pd_451372-37672-53022___?productId=4483976&pl=1&Ntt=dowel+pins Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311198-25mm-columns/#findComment-4124213 Share on other sites
Lucio
Try a 32mm base with a little weighting for stability, then no one can complain as you're modelling them on bases which GW supplies with Space Marine models anyway.
