Purgatorio Crusade

My train of thoughts:

1 - SO MANY!! Man I need to work on my crusade...

2 - What's the dude with an ipad doing on the other side?

3 - Taking a picture of their back!?

4 - This shelf can't be free standing with people taking synchronized pictures...

5 - OH!!!

Great mirror trick ;)

The mirror is indeed deceitful, however, in there is some allure in that trickery ;)

I'd like to take a closer look at the banner, as I'm planning on doing something similar (because this is the banner from the GK terminator kit, right?). One word of critique: I feel that techmarines should have some red on them, to show that they handle mechanics well. But don't mind me - that's your army, and a great looking one as well!

And follow codex colour-coding?! PAH!! A Black Templar is black! (but yeah, a little bit of red is a nice way to make them stand out.. ;))

Also, looking back at the techmarines, I realized your marines have blue eyes. Interesting choice! I always went for angry red eyes because it pops well, but blue can look quite nice. I would suggest a lighter blue highlight (like for the yellow in red eyes) to make them pop more.

Thanks for your guidance brothers my crusade grows strong with your wise council. I am thinking of going back through my painted models and adding more highlights and rebasing the power armoured ones onto 32mm. Maybe a red head on the techmarine? To show his body is the emperor's but his mind is the omnimessiah?

Red helmet could be cool, and work kind of like how some people will paint templar veterans with white helmets.

I also like to integrate the red in the personal heraldry/shoulderpads of marines. I like using the cog and skull shoulder pad, with red background, painted black cross under the skull and cog, black trim. If you prefer a white background, you could have a red cross on it, or a quartered/halved/split white and red background with black cross.

In my view, basically any red bit would do. Your idea with the fluff explanation is something I'd buy without second thoughts. I really don't want to impose anything, but you could redo some parts of the backpack. And what Artanor said - I thinkg that a more "mechanicus" shoulder pad is a bare minimum when it comes to tecmarines.

I'm using a mixture of paint schemes on my techmarines: one has an entire red armour, with the exception of one shoulder pad depicting chapter insignia. The other, my Master of the Forge, has a dominantly black armour with various red panels to show that he's more devoted to the Chapter, than to the Martian cult. I'm planning to paint the next one using a chequered scheme, 2 quarters of the armour red, 2 black. I always figured that these guys are a bit different from the other brothers and, hence, are allowed even more individuality.

Thanks for the close-up of the banner. The pads need some paint, as you've realised - that little detail will make him more distinctly a Templar.

I'm sometimes a purist, so I'll probably try to remove the bit right above the head of the terminator in the banner, which understand is a psychic hood. An there's no place for that on a Templar.

Psychic hood what psychic hood? That is an allegorical representation of zeal and the righteousness of a crusader cleansing the stars for humanity as per his emperor's ancient wishes. All shown by a shining golden sunburst Illuminating a terminator clad Templar just like Sol illuminates Terra. We are never far from His sight brothers.

Fluff aneurysm aside, good luck trying to carve it off. I'm trying to clean a different one up and it is not easy. Might take to it with the dremel, make all my bits boxes watch. A lesson must be taught.

I didn't mean the halo - that's okay, as you pointed out. I meant the bit of armour above the helmet. This feels like nerd nitpicking, but I was sad to discover that Grey Knight Terminator Armour differs from the regular Astartes pattern: in place of the regular "enclosure", the Grey Knights have their heretical psychic hood, which is also represented on the banner. So I'm either planning to remove it or to add some green stuff "bulk" to obscure it and make that armour look more 'regular'.

I did that with just 1 Templar, Castellan Gillian, The armor was originally a GK kit, which I bulked up... its somewhat hard to pull off and requires a bit of tinkering and a lot of work...

rewarding though when you get it done as the rear exhaust for the GK TDA is smaller giving your knight a more sleeker look.

The front half is an Assault on Black Reach Captain with the back part from a GK Terminator Kit... it was the only one that fit it flush... the top part of the armor is Green Stuff with the lights cut off from excess missile Launchers. This guy was pure kitbash from stuff I had lying around at the time...

And while I do like the banner... the GK banner is a total rip-off from the 4th edition Black Templar codex... that's the Battle of Fire and Blood from the Vinculus Crusade Banner.
