Once a devout believer in all that the Imperium stood for, at the Battle of Calth it was clear to those who witnessed the atrocities he masterminded that Zardu Layak, the Crimson Apostle, had fallen completely into darkness along with the rest of the Word Bearers Legion.

Suffused in dark powers which he used freely to destroy minds and bodies, Zardu Layak walked his bloody path accompanied by a pair of bodyguards, each unnaturally warped and contorted and possessed of great strength. Wielding the Anakatis blades, gifts bestowed upon them by Layak and weapons of unholy xenos influence and malevolent power, they cut a swathe through their master’s foes in a barely controlled hunger for slaughter.

Zardu Layak & the Anakatis Kul Blade-slaves are part of Forge World’s Horus Heresy Character Series. These three models are all exceptionally sculpted, and the set includes two twisted and warp-infused Blade-slaves wielding plasma pistols and their tainted xenos weapons, and their master, Zardu Layak, in highly detailed armour and wielding a force stave hung with trophies of his dark arts.

Rules for using Zardu Layak & the Anakatis Kul Blade-slaves can be found in The Horus Heresy Book Five – Tempest.

This is a complete multi-part resin kit. It includes two 40mm bases and one 32mm base, and is presented in a Horus Heresy Character Series presentation box. A video showcasing this model can be found HERE

Zardu Layak & the Anakatis Kul Blade-slaves are available to order today for despatch from Friday 31st July.

Held up as paragons of honour and duty amongst their fellow Legiones Astartes, Invictarus Suzerains are warriors of great renown, elevated above the line units to serve their Primarch, Roboute Guilliman, and the Tetrarchs of Ultramar directly. They can be found at the most critical points on any battlefield or where the fighting is thickest, leading their brothers to victory through their own acts of valour and bravery.

Chosen to be the living embodiments of their Primarch’s rule, Invictarus Suzerains are equipped with some of the finest weapons and wargear their Legion possesses. Their ornate armour shines with the light of Guilliman’s wisdom and authority; their exquisitely wrought boarding shields hold anarchy and disorder at bay and the Legatine power axes they wield with deadly effect dispense instant judgement upon any who would dare to defy their Primarch’s will.

This multi-part resin kit contains over 50 parts and creates five Ultramarines Invictarus Suzerains armed with bolt pistols, Legatine power axes and boarding shields. The kit also includes two optional plasma pistols. Rules for using Invictarus Suzerain Squads in Horus Heresy games can be found in The Horus Heresy Book Five – Tempest.

This product is available to pre-order today for despatch from Friday 31st July

First among the fallen, the Word Bearers were instrumental in turning other Legions against the Emperor of mankind and his Imperium. The markings displayed on their armour and vehicles are forever linked with treachery and betrayal.

This sheet of Word Bearers etched brass symbols is packed with the iconography of the Legion. It is perfect for use of Word Bearers infantry and vehicles to personalise your models.

This product is available to pre-order today for despatch from Friday 31st July.

On first glance, £60 is a bit much - but compare them to the Phallanx Warden or Templar Bretheren kits for the fits:

  • Upgrade pack - £22.00
  • Despoiler Squad - £33.00
  • 5 man squad total - £55.00

At least with the Suzerains you get the sculpted legs, arms and backpacks rather than the generic ones, for an extra £5 that's easier to swallow. Still not sure why they didn't do that with the Phallanx and Bretheren kits though.

The Invictarii look outstanding, even better than they did on first inspection a few months back. Especially loving the way the bolter magazine looks attached to the shields

As for Zardu, glorious. Quality of the character series is going from strength to strength lately

Indeed. Whilst we may all baulk at the price, the quality Forgeworld is putting out is going from strength to strength.

... it's just annoying that I'm going to need a better paying job for when the IX Legion is released :(

I remain Miffed.

I know right? No Sanguinius yet msn-wink.gif

Him, Dorn and Magnus. They shall receive a Shelf of their own in my display Cabinet when the day arrives!

The Brass Etch caught me by surprise though I find it a bit....lacking?

*Grumbles* Ultramarines with their Moulded legs! Pah! *Grumble* at least there isnt a huge price Disparity. Though I feel that the Legs being stuck to the Torsos is a Negative. Lot less posing options for those of us unwilling to put the blade to the Resin *shudder*

Looking at some of the details again, they're really intricate and nicely done.

When I saw them in the display cabinets I thought they had ropes / tassles around the legs - turns out these are very fine laurels. You can see them in the close up on the assembled pistol / sheild arms:

These are going to make some great character models, captains, sergeants, veterans, etc...

I particularly like how the Invictarii come with several sub-components, it should make conversions much easier. Zardu et al. are great too. It's nice that Forgeworld aren't limiting themselves to making character sculpts solely from the Black Library books.

Hopefully this release means the Eidolon sculpt isn't far away happy.png.

It would have been great if they came with the parts for a legion banner smile.png They have that option if you run them as a command squad for someone. Ah well.

(Forge World should really re-release Phalanx Warders and Templars to match these guys, upgrade kits suck :()

WHilst it would have been good for a banner in there, it loks to be pretty simple to swap out an axe for a banner hand from one of the command sets (guessing MKIII would be the best fit for the gauntlet)

You can only exchange the boarding shield for the banner, not the axe. So if you did use the banners from the command sets, you'd have to convert either the axe or the banner to be  left handed.

I agree though, it would have been relatively straightforward for FW to implement one in the kit.
