exsanguis
Hey guys, I really like the idea of doing a Militia army using Survivors and Advanced Weapons to create a Veteran heavy infantry force mounted in Rhino's. It would be supported by a Malcador (or two!) and the ubiquitous Leman Russ. Has anyone had any experience with the Militia list yet? Threads on them seem few and far between on the interwebs. Thanks! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311389-militiacult-anyone-used-them-yet/ Share on other sites
Ishagu
I'm really curious about them too but I guess they are simply too new and niche at this point. I must say, if I had a lot more time I'd love to paint and convert my own themed Militia army... norngahl
I'm going to use them aling my SoH as an auxilliary force. - Force Commander with cyber familiar, tainted weapon, cult and tainted flesh rule (rending ID attacks) - Lvl 2 Rough Psyker with tainted weapon to summon daemons and finally get transformed into a possesed (rending ID attacks hehe) - 2x 50 Levys with zealot, FnP 6+ and rending CC attacks For mere 400 points quite a nice deal.. but as a standalone force they are rather underwhelming.. like their name says, auxilliary.. to fill up weak points in your primary detachment.. OneOfOneThousand
I'm keen on getting started with a cult list but it'll be way down the line for me - it was the final push for me to pull the trigger on a Word Bearer force and i'll be adding a cult list and Dark Mechanicum to that eventually (as well as Daemons) so I have big plans but very long-term ones for the Cult list. Sure people will pick them up though especially as more people get the Tempest book in hand Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311389-militiacult-anyone-used-them-yet/#findComment-4129401 Share on other sites

Quick question: My copy of Tempest does not have a points cose for rogue psykers, only for the upgrades available to this unit. Does this mean they are effectively free, with only upgrades costing points, or does my book have a misprint? I only ask because I am tempted to do something similar the what you use, but allied with some Dark Mechanicum. Expect this to be rectified with the next FAQ. Forgeworld are petty good at updating and clarifying rules. Nakuth
So, wishful thinking on my behalf. That said, it could make sense for the initial cost of the Rogue Psykers to be covered by the points for the Provenance that unlocks them, with any extra cost coming solely from upgrades. sinner098
I have tried 1500 points of dark age survivors and cyber augments as militia arm of my darkmech, I like them. Fight 40k mostly so your mileage may vary but AA was needed. Wish they had some kind of ack ack tank Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311389-militiacult-anyone-used-them-yet/#findComment-4130035 Share on other sites
Nakuth
That's what allied Thallax with the AA upgrade/Thunderbolts/Voss Lightnings are for. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311389-militiacult-anyone-used-them-yet/#findComment-4130051 Share on other sites
norngahl
Actually FW said to use the point cost for Rogue Psykers from IA, so 35 points base. Thing on these guys is- LVL2 and throw all your dices on summoning, cause when the psyker kills himself with perils of the warp, he'll get a decent CC fighter.. with ID rending attacks :D Plus some Daemons for free on top. What's not to like. But I made a mistake- you can only take 1 HQ when you take them as allies. So you have to leave the Rogue Psyker at home and take the Force Commander for rending attacks and zealot. Fearless 50 men blobs to tie the enemy up.. awesome. Hyaenidae
I'm thinking a Force Commander with the Beloved of the People warlord trait, and twin plasma pistols. Nothing says he has to die from enemy fire. :p Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311389-militiacult-anyone-used-them-yet/#findComment-4133328 Share on other sites
norngahl
Too expensive. You are paying 20 points for planetary overrule to choose this ability plus plasma on top. Better dtart with upgrading to cult horde and get zealot (so fearless for free on top) for the same amount of points.. Hyaenidae
Tis true. Making my opponent's eyelid twitch from my insane and suicidal choices is a bonus as well. :P Alchem, Carapace, Beloved of the People. Nothing but Grenadiers, Arvus for transport, and Thunderbolts. Swarm, devour, and laugh madly. Just like my cognomen. And the stories I will write of these psychos..... WolfOfHorus
Frankly the Cults list is ridiculous against regular 40k armies when you have unlimited Detachments. Min sized levy squads with zealot. Very evil. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311389-militiacult-anyone-used-them-yet/#findComment-4134448 Share on other sites
