Plastic Heresy - photos

Why would there be 2 power fists for the PA guys... Unless the box makes 2 man Veteran Squads with a Delegatus?

Lightning Claws. They're assembled FW style where you clue the actual claws to the top of Power Fists.

Like so:

Even though this is a Tartaros Weapon set, the Mk IV picture had the claws already on the fists :p

The Crusade List won't be the final form of the legion lists released by FW. We will see a heresy list that reflects the armies during the Age of Darkness. I wouldn't be surprised to see special weapons and heavy weapons making their way into tactical squads by that point.

My guess on these - and it is purely a guess is that what GW will do is release this as a variant Tactical Squad (and the character sprue as a plastic one like we've seen for most races now) and won't touch heresy rules.

This achieves two things;

1. It allows Heresy players like us to get more for the money we have to spend, and allows us to really throw ourselves into the upgrade kits for the legions. Depending on price, I would detail up my tacticals with the FW upgrade torsos and helmets. As it stands, I won't discard expensive FW pieces for the upgrades as it makes everything way too expensive.

2. It bulks out sales of the older marks to anyone who is borderline on the heresy, or those who want some variety in their SM chapter force for 40k. My mate has a huge number of Blood Ravens - useless in the heresy (as he is a purist) but great to add some extra tacticals in MkIV for Badab War campaigns, aesthetic differences and just because he wants to.

So you essentially get one kit that can be used by both 30k and 40k player bases with relatively little risk on GWs part.

Of course, I could be completely wrong and this is either GWs step into the HH or a boxed game, either of which I'm fine with to be honest. If GW take over rules production then that's a shame - but I still have all the FW books to use regardless of their open attitude to list building (looking at you Age of Sigmar)

This has to be a positive in order to get the Heresy player base expanding surely?

What's unlikely is that GW stops after Mk. IV Tacticals, Cataphractii, and a Contemptor. More will follow after this. It has to because GW is poised to make a fortune off this. I agree that they'll probably stay away from most vehicles, but I fully expect different armor marks, assault/ heavy support squads, command kits, and specialists in plastic. It would appear that GW is creating a new range. If they release Destroyers and Breachers in plastic my life is complete.

Nice, can't see the legs well though. I like the missile launcher design, the torsos and all the added knives etc. I think the only thing that could spoil it is the typical plastic kit posing versus the resin design (check the spread legs and typical horse riding stance pose).

Let us hope for a decent price that won't see me debating over which is cheaper - a titan or pack of five new marines.

Can't wait to see how they match up to the resin marines for compatibility!

There is one thing that I'm thinking of that is stopping me from getting as excited as everyone else about this, and that is price. Do we know what the price is likely to be for the tactical squad? If I was to ballpark the price, I'd guess £27.50 - £30. Now, granted it will (almost) certainly be cheaper than a FW squad of ten with Tigrus bolters (2x sets of 5 marines and 1x set of bolters runs to £58.50, not including extra gubbins) but will they put a premium on the set, making it more expensive than the current (£25) 40k tactical squad? Call me a cynic but I'll be surprised if they don't ask for just that little bit more.

Regardless, yay for plastic Mk4. ^_^

Well a ten man assault squad is 50 quid. So I guess it could be anywhere from 27 - to 50 pounds.
