Aquillas and Chaos Stars in HH

Recommended Posts

Okay I'm wanting to kitbash a few more traitor legion praetors for HH (made an IW, now I want to make SoH, EC and DG). I'm wondering though, when did the traitors start adding chaos stars to their armour? Would a fanatical SoH praetor look out of place with a chaos star bolted onto his armour? (thinking of using Huron as a starting point) Or was chaos worship exclusively a word bearers thing during the heresy?

Same goes for aquillas, I know EC wore them en mass but I painted put my first praetor (removed the aquilla from the shoulder) but left the one on his chest) and would hate the thought of having to scratch it off and repaint him just to make it look "right". pic

In the Horus Heresy novel Vengeful Spirit, it does show art work later on in the book where the Son's of Horus Justerian Terminators have Chaos icon painted onto there breacher shields.  The novel base around the battle for Molech.

So if I used Hurons body as for the model it would still fit with the HH? Awesome if that's the case.

While the chaos stars would definetly be present all over the Word Bearers legion, even before the Isstvan Massacre as nobody would know what it meant appart from the Word Bearers themselves, there were a lot of lodges throughout the legions (except for a few, Ultramarines did not have any lodges as far as I know) and these where basically means through which the XVIIth legion spread the influence of the dark gods and were used to sow the seeds of betrayal, so they could easily be added to represent membership of such a lodge.

And as far as the aquila goes there is a diference between the Imperial Aquila and the Palatine Aquila. The former is the icon of the Imperium as a whole and is worn by all military branches of the Imperium of Man, maybe painted on armoured vehicles, added to power armour, as necklaces or medals, banners, etc. The later is the personal sigil of the Emperor and is only worn by the Emperors Children and (I think) the custodes, because the IIIrd legion served as his escorts during the early days of the heresy.

Hope it helps.
