Brother Captain Ed
Greetings brothers. I am looking for some bits (specifically torsos, but legs and such can come along if they look right) utilizing medieval style armor and surcoats. The BT stuff is too specific to it's chapter (the Maltese crosses, power armor, and chains have a specific 40k niche) and the Bretonnian stuff seems a little more ragtag than I'd like. Are there bits companies out there that make something similar that could be used on a relatively large scale? I'm thinking of modding up a Feudal World emergency levy of Guardsmen and maybe some Sisters. Thoughts?? Hyaenidae
Be cautious about the static medieval legs, they're shorter that the average Marine. Not enough to look wildly different, but they are a bit 'stout'. EDIT: Out of curiousity, have you thought of trying out some of the Scion torsos? I know, the abdomen would need a little work, but the style would be unique on an Astartes. Perhaps using BCK's tissue paper cape tutorial would help? Brother Captain Ed
Thank you for the suggestions! I don't do a lot of converting that isn't just plain ol' kitbashing so I am unfamiliar with the vast majority of the third party product out there. The links are helpful! If anyone has any more, I'd appreciate it. I haven't tried the Scion torsos. They look great but they are already a 40k "thing" and I'm not sure how far the converting will go. Also I was hoping for a little more Early Medieval and less Renaissance era. That they aren't marine sized is ideal, however. As pointed out this is for Guardsmen and Sisters, not our genetically modified trans-human heroes. My vision is for an extremely accelerated emergency levy of soldiers and/or Sisters from a Fuedal World. So, they've got the crash course in 41st Millennium technology and warfare, but are still closely tied to the pre-industrial past they left behind only months ago. So, tabards, surcoats, bits and pieces of archaic armor and helmets scattered throughout units, but bearing standard weapons and other accoutrements.
