Rocket launcher sentinels?

I recently picked up three already assembled sentinels for really cheap.

The loadouts are:

2x Armored sentinel - rocket launcher

1x Armored sentinel - lascannon

I would like to run these wysiwyg, but I was thinking of possibly cutting the rocket pod off to replace with a different weapon.

I might possibly run them as scout sentinels... just make sure opponent knows their armor/statline before the game starts.

When I think of sentinels, I think of outflanking harassing units.  Possibly with an anti-vehicle loadout.

My main opponents are Blood Angel and Necrons.

On paper the rocket launcher looks just ok, anyone have good results with them?

Should I just replace them with lascannon or autocannons instead?

I think they are under-rated. Have your two move with each other within 48" and let loose the Krak! Also, they can target blobs of enemies, say, Tyranids, and wipe out quite a few of them. They'd work great against Orks, as well.

Maybe save them for horde armies where they have some room to shine.

Thanks for the info guys.  Sounds like they are worth a shot before I just tear the launchers off.

Thinking I will run two sent squadrons

Squad 1 - Lascannon scout sentinel

Squad 2 - Rocket sentinel - not sure if scout or armored is the way to go

None of my opponents will give me a hard time for running an armored model as a scout sentinel.  I really want the guns to be wysiwyg.

The missile rocket launchers or versatile but that's generally not what you need here. An autocannon is probably the most I'd go for on a Scout Sentinel. A couple of shots makes a big difference and one less strength point is fine when you're shooting side and rear armour. However it's not a huge extra expense for some versatility if you need it, and it'd certainly make them more threatening to your opponent. Don't forget you can charge in to strike rear armour or tarpit enemy troops should they survive coming on the table :)

There is nothing stopping you from carefully cutting them off but don't just throw them away when you decide what weapons option you are going to go with as this is an ideal time to make interchangeable weapons options for future versatility. You know it makes sense ;)
I play blood angels. Sentinels often aren't the main threat, so they tend to survive longer than their armour would suggest. Armoured sentinels are a surprisingly good tar pit. Many times I've overestimated my death company charging into them, even with a powerfist or two. That said, bs3 isn't great(I like the autocannon). I'd focus on board control and distraction tactics over kill power, which can add up in points. I kind of want to get a squad myself, I'm curious too see how they play out for you.

I'm not a huge fan of Sentinels game-wise, though I of course love them background-wise.  For best results ingame, I think Lascannons are a good choice.  They give you reach, hitting power and aren't ridiculously expensive.  Missile Launchers are too limited for specific targets (and the flexibility is kind of pointless since we have so many beter anti-infantry options).  Plasma Cannons are a neat idea, but there again we have the Executioner for that.  Autocannons are a solid second choice to save points and help whittle down transports, but can be somewhat redundant compared to Tauroxes.  Heavy Flamers are a joke.  Just say no!
