Alpha Legion - Orbital Assault / 2.000 pts.

Greetings everyone,

 

long-time lurker but first-time poster here ! 

After having toyed around with a couple 'generic' (read: non-legion-specific) Legion army lists in the past three or so years, I finally decided on the XXth to be my legion of coice, mainly because I might finally be able to actually squeeze a couple games of Horus Heresy in after having found people who share the interest in HH / 30k gaming.

Like I said, I did some experimenting with several blends of infantry lists in the past, but never utilised any of the ROW.

As for 40k / GW games in general ... I believe I started in 1990 (give or take a couple months).

 

In addition to the WIP Alpha Legion detachment, I already have a small force of Dark Mechanicum (~ 600 pts.) to be used as an allied detachment only, and a small but energetic Warp Cult army that can be fielded as both a primary or an allied detachment (450 pts. / 1100 pts.)

 

I'm normally aiming for lists that are both fluffy, yet not doomed for failure, but they need not be hyper-competitive.

- Dynat and the Apothecary would join Destroyer squad #1 for double Phosphex action.

- The Siege Breaker will join Destroyer squad #2 for the same fun.

- Destroyer squad #2 plus one other pod would deep strike first (to get the Nuncio Vox on the table), with the other two pods, the Storm Eagle and the infantry squad deploying by 'Hammerstrike Assault' following in later turns.

- The small Recon squad is  only there to get a relatively cheap third scoring unit, and to be able to bring the Storm Eagle as a dedicated transport, a model I allready own and wouldn't miss. (I believe it wouldn't be allowed under Orbital Assault rules to select an infantry unit w/o a dedicated transport and then embark it on a FA selection Eagle ??)

- Deep Striking in general harmonizes well with Dynats abilities, as do the pods, the Vox and the Kheres Contemptor.

- 2x2 Phosphex is awesome.

- List is easily expandable, since it doesn't use a single FA or HS slot !

 

As it is, I own all the models necessary, except for the pods.
