Frater Cornelius
So, a buddy of mine usually plays 2-3 Canoptek Harvest Formations at 1650pts. One of the units has Orikan to re-roll those 1s on their 3++. Any ideas how to approach a list like that? Especially when going second. Since IG lack Grav, getting rid of those Spyders will not be easy. Thoughts? CoffeeGrunt
Wraiths have the 3++, right? Only thing I can think of would be Manticores, so you can hammer them from the get-go. AP doesn't matter due to their Invuln, but it knocks their Reanimation Protocols down to a 6+ due to Instant Death, while also killing them in one hit if it gets through the Save. Wyverns, Eradicators or massed Multi-Lasers will deal with the Scarabs. Spiders will require heavier weapons to kill. As far as I can see, that sort of list would be severely lacking in any ranged ability, so leveraging that to your advantage will help. Frater Cornelius
I do have a question regarding assaults. Say I have an Aegis Line and I am not in base contact with it but 0.5" away. Could a Wraith assault the dudes? He would not be able to get into base contact and certainly not be able to place them. Would that be a legit exploit to stop assaults? CoffeeGrunt
It's very cheesy and rules-lawyery, so it'd be pretty unsporting. IIRC, he can place the Wraiths next to the Aegis and use the Wobbly Model Syndrome rule to specify that they're on top of the Line, but naturally can't sit there. He can still attack as he counts as being in base contact, and then you're forced to Pile In at your Initiative step and thus will be in base contact with the Line anyway. GreyCrow
The best way to protect your infantry would be to go armour heavy with Chimeras and tanks to blast stuff away while they get close. Unfortunately, 'counts-as standing on top' is not tournament standard. He puts up cut-throat lists like that, so he can not expect me to sit idly by and bend over. The Aegis rules are that if I am in base with the Aegis and he is, we are in combat. If he is in base with Aegis, but I am 1" away, there will be no combat, as silly as it sounds. Besides, if he is standing on top of the Aegis, he is not in base contact either.
