Charlo
Just to get a consensus, what's the opinion on count as and conversions for Heresy armies? As we all know, Resin is very expensive, some of it just prohibitively so. Do you feel people are "cheating" but not paying for the models? Or do you encourage them to make a good effort on thier own models. How about tournament goers? One example of something I had in mind was to use some converted Kataphron Servitors as Rapier Grav cannons. Similar size, and possibly a bit of a fluff opportunity with minimal conversions, or could remove the servitor body entirely to make the traditional turret. The FW version are over £30 per single gun. Considering for a squad I could also buy a big resin vehicle or a plastic Knight, I'm never going to be able to justify the real rapiers. Would anyone have a problem with this if they came across an opponent who had done it? Joe
There's nothing wrong with people using 'counts-as' in 30k, 40k or AoS so long as it isn't a ridiculous instance like say, raising a model by a few inches to give them an advantage when it comes to LoS. Not everyone can afford the prices for the resin models from Forgeworld. So long as it's clear what it is (or the user takes the time to explain) then it's fine. Anything else is just petty. Charlo
Cool, I thought so but I wasn't sure with Forgeworld. With the kits being premium and expensive I didn't know if it was sort of expected to have the real stuff... For infantry and such most of the prices are reasonable, but those rapiers, man I just don't understand that! Slips
For Grav Cannons, yeah understandable. Though, if you have a Thunderfire Cannon, they cost 69.25$ CAD for me vs ~60$ CAD for a Rapier Battery, and both being able to be used as a Quad Mortar, the plunge isn't that harsh. And, if you have some spare Centurion Grav Cannons, you could easily make your own using a Track Assembly. Grotsmasha
For most people, being told pre-game and the models being of comparable size will be acceptable. Dom_
I'd say as long as you're happy with your collection, and what you're doing isn't obvious modelling for advantage or a breach of a copyright then go for it. Charlo
I can assure you, as awesome as they are, until they make a plastic one I will not be buying a Thunder fire cannon! Big shame we didn't see one with the latest codex given its been out for about 3 dexes now! But thanks guys, just checking. My next army will certainly be Heresy, as after major thought the Skitaari and Cult Mech failed to draw me in, at least until they get an IA book ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311873-count-as-instead-of-resin/#findComment-4136670 Share on other sites
