Your Legion

Recommended Posts

Greetings all, recently I chose to sell my large Emperors Children army(who remained unbeaten :P)  in favour of following my heart and blowing a fortune home growing my own Blood Angels heresy force. So the lads are shaping up nicely now and ive had afew games with them and my excitement was lets say...quelled abit by the lack of legion rules and the fact I had nothing that made my army unique, I was shocked at how much of a disadvantage this put me at and I went from being top dog with my Children to pulling a close draw if i was lucky. My guys are looking great i used a colour scheme Brother Heinrich showed me and ive been running a very fluffy army, alot of drop pods, vet marines, and "destroyers" (who im aware aren't very fluffy but ive written a little narrative fluff for my army and they fit in nicely with it) My question to you all is really, until the sons of the Angel get legion rules how would you run them in order to make them semi competitive, while still keeping relatively fluffy?

My second point is how do you other guys without rules run your armies? Im talking to you sons of the khan/russ etc! I am honestly really curious to see how everyone else works there "yettogetrules" Legions, so aye, what do you guys do to deal with these issues?

Run them with whatever you want. All Legions used all of the options in the Crusade list to varying degrees. You'll get your Legion rules and Rite of War in Book 6. Until then just have fun playing them as they are. I personally see the Legion as very assault oriented, in your face aggressive... so Assault Marines, Jetbikes, Jump Pack Destroyers, Despoilers... Maybe run one of the generic Rites. I could see an army full of Blood Angels Assault Marines in Storm Eagles supported by Terminators in Caestus Rams.

A No-Rite Army might also be pretty good depending on if you chose Furious Charge (...I mean, you probably will its part of the 40k CT) or Stubborn.

That Said, it'll always depend on DAT THEME YO!

PotL and Angels Wrath are pretty evident choices for BA since they play on two of their defining features: Terminators/Veterans and Jump Pack Equipped units.

For Blood Angels I would be tempted to use Pride of the Legion (mass veteran squads, much bling so shiny) or Angels Wrath (it has part of the Legion name in it come on! tongue.png) with a bunch of assault marines and Storm Eagles.

I always ran PotL HQ in term armour 3 vet squads with sniper in drop pods occasionally with power weps, 10 terms, 2x5 destroyers with jump packs and a sicarian, i had a fire raptor but i just didnt enjoy it so i sod it

I run my angels like so:

• Jetbike Praetor armed with the Photonic Blade of pure win

• Plasma-Tat of Doom

• 6-man jetbike squad with double CHOOM action and meltabombs

• 2x Ultra-Grit Despoiler Squads in Rhinos

• 2x Vindicators with Machine Spirit and Dozers

• Multi-Melta Contemptor in a Pod

That's my 1750 list in a nut shell. Usually does quite well for me and gives as good as it gets. I'll probably drop the contemptor when Sanguinius comes out and use Dad alongside whatever cool special unit we get. (Terminators and Contemptor will then be relegated to ZM duty.)
