Generalripphook
For the "black legion" why don't we do something similar to the Deathwatch where they have one unifying color and then an arm with the color of their prior allegiance. Maybe with the old arm defaced or covered in unwashed blood to represent they no longer show loyalty/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311978-general-discussion/page/160/#findComment-4519584 Share on other sites
Kelborn
Hm... Would traitors willingly show their heritage? I've all ways imagined that they don't give anything on their parent legion/ chapter besides defiled symbols. Nomus Sardauk
I have to agree with Kelborn here, most renegades and traitors quickly cast off their former colours and icons to forge a new identity for themselves, and although there have been a few rare exceptions who keep them those have usually been to mock or sully the reputation of the parent chapter. Most Chaos lords accepting Astartes of foreign descent into their warbands do so with the condition they repaint their armour to match the warband's as a matter of course, this visual uniformity breeds a loose sense of unity amongst the Warband (as well as being a show of obedience on the newbie's behalf) rather than newcomers stubbornly holding onto their previous identities and cultures, potentially causing divisions amongst the ranks with an "us versus them" mentality. bluntblade
Especially when that Legion has cast themselves as the alternative to those old allegiances Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311978-general-discussion/page/160/#findComment-4519679 Share on other sites
Generalripphook
You know what would make a really cool unique legion unit? A vehicle. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311978-general-discussion/page/160/#findComment-4521830 Share on other sites
Kelborn
You mean a new kind of vehicle? Got Breacher bikes for my legion and some others wanted some chariots. bluntblade
We might have one on the way for another book. In fluff, the Bears have the Mashkode which is basically a War Rig crossed with a Land Raider. Chief Captain Redd
Also The Iron Bears already have the Land Raider Mauler/Mauler Nova variants too. In addition to the Mashkode we have like a dozen other variants or new vehicles that have popped up in stories, like the Bison Heavy Assault Walker. And we sure do love grav-vehicles. Chief Captain Redd
I'm not sure exactly, but it's a Rhino chassis (this might change) based walker, heavily up armoured and mounts heavy shield generators and more exotic high power weapons, like heavy conversion beamers, modified accelerator autocannons from the Sicarian, thunderfire cannons. And so on and so forth Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311978-general-discussion/page/160/#findComment-4522657 Share on other sites

Chief Captain Redd
Smaller, but sort of yeah. Bears rely on Land Raiders and Spartans for primary transports as Rhinos are a little cramped for them for transports so they started tinkering and repurposing them for other rolls. Hense things like the Bison, though are Ghostwalker Clans (reconn) use grav-rhinos still Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311978-general-discussion/page/160/#findComment-4522767 Share on other sites
Generalripphook
So do the bears share a tight connection with the mechanicum or do they have a strained relationship with them because their engineers/human aids have tinked with the technology/incorporated more alien technology? MikhalLeNoir
Somewhere we have a relationship overview were ties to the imperial army and mechanicum are shown too Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311978-general-discussion/page/160/#findComment-4522856 Share on other sites
Chief Captain Redd
The Bears' relationship with the Mechanicum is technically very close, because of treaties that were signed; but Daer'dd and Kelbor Hal sort of hate each other, so it's complex. bluntblade
But some other factions within the Mechanicus like him because he gave them a chance to collaborate with the Auretian Technocracy. Oh, I should quickly mention for Rip's benefit that the Interex and Technocracy aren't destroyed in the Crusade. Aureus however is ruined by the Berserkers of Uran in the process of exterminating the Shepherds of Eden. Chief Captain Redd
Yep; and he brought the Demiurge/Squats fully into the Imperium. Kelbor really just dislikes him because of the Forge World/Moons located in the Three Fires and their loyalty to Daer'dd, and Daer'dd's progressive ideals regarding tech; which helps ally the VIth with the loyalists of Mars. bluntblade
Might it be a good idea to pop story links in the first posts of Legion threads? Just something to give a quick impression of the Legion - so the Halcyon Wardens could have Sim's story of Alex messing with the Orks telepathically, the Lions could have Meros' or one of Sigi's, and so on Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/311978-general-discussion/page/160/#findComment-4524183 Share on other sites
MikhalLeNoir
I second that..so you can have a quick look at a legion. I suggest that we put the legion colors and the shoulderpads thorn made on the first post too. Maybe clean everythimg up and give the post a unified structure. I mean the board is the first thing new people come to.
