Big Bad Squig
That's looking really nice! The Dune Serpents are a bit less purple on the models I have painted so far, although I do like the lilac a bit more. I might paint them a bit different now! Chief Captain Redd
Love seeing the legions side by side, the Iron Bears look surprisingly close to my actual models. And Thorn like the Armour ideas the dualist pattern actually sounds like how I model a lot of my Bears already.
MikhalLeNoir
Yeah. Duelist armor is the style i go for my wardens. Asymmetrical armor design
simison
Skal, I've decided on the Warriors of Peace color scheme. Black with yellow embellishments. So, if you could use a model that has the Aquila on its chest, and make that yellow, that would do quite nicely.
Slips
Hnnnh I love that spread! If only they could properly display an opalescent color >_<
Praefectus Invictus
I like the idea of the Jackals fielding mk6! I had primarily thought they would field mk4 and 6, with a large amount of mk3 in the first chapter. I'll try and think of a name, but devil pattern and tracking pattern stand out most for mk6, while "bulwark" pattern for mk3 and mk4 "honouris" pattern. Will expand more when I get off my phone
Slips
Only distinctive Armors my Legion has is that they Modify pretty much everything to be Underwater and/or Void Capable. That said, the most common mark among my Legionnaires would be Mk IV Maximus but the standard version essentially being the Destroyer Variant: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/catalog/product/600x620/99590101334_DestroyerSquadJumpPacks02.jpg With Kneepads, Trims, Details/Studs and Helmet Vent (The stripe thing) all being in their Legions Metallic Red. Raktra
I've always loved that variant. Seems too "we look after ourselves" for my lads though.
Slips
I've always loved that variant. Seems too "we look after ourselves" for my lads though. Mashup of Mk III and Mk V might be / is perfect for your boys, I feel. I think thats what your current 'Zerker Model has too, no? Hell, if you could make an Up-armored Mk VI I think that'd look cool. Slips
I think so, Khârn's body as base and he's MkV, aye? It looks like Mk V but Artificer'd. The Leg cables are whats mostly throwing me off :P
simison
Nice armor variants. I'm struggling to figure out where I put Alexandros' profile as Warmaster at. I'm reluctant to start another Halcyon Warden thread because I'm not sure else I'd what I write it. The Great Crusade thread might apply since his appointment is pre-Insurrection. Maybe in the Loyalists' thread since that is where he sees the most combat as Warmaster. Hmmm....
Sigismund229
Or perhaps we should start a new thread where we can place all the primarchs rules?
simison
And personality summaries instead of my one-word attempts at the start. Or, I could add them to the Reunited Family thread in the first post.
Grifftofer
Or perhaps we should start a new thread where we can place all the primarchs rules? This might be a good idea. Could maybe expand it to include base Legion rules too? Edited August 15, 2015 by Grifftofer
simison
Made the topic, then realized I didn't want to ask my questions since that could interrupt the flow of the thread. So, I'll just ask here. Alex as Warmaster isn't going to be much different from regular Alex. Honestly, the only changes I was considering were equipment changes. If I remember right, Niklaas was going to create a unique terminator armor for Alex. Additionally, like Worldbreaker, the Emperor was going to fashion a new weapon for Alex to represent his authority. I've already decided that it'll be a spear, but what flavor/rules should I give it? Grifftofer
Depends. Are you going to have it as his only weapon or as an addition to having Xiphos?
simison
Fluff-wise, he's going to have access to both, but I'm thinking the Spear of Terra will just replace, rules-wise.
Sigismund229
For a name, you could go for Dori, as the Dori was the Greek Hoplite spear or Sarissa, the pike used by the Macedonian phalangites. Personally I'd advise going for Dori as I'm not aware of the Macedonians phalangites having used a Xiphos. Oh and also, small thing about the way you've described Xiphos. The Greek Xiphos most deffinately wasn't a short sword. Sure, it wasn't as long the Viking or Saxon longswords but still. If you look at reconstructions of them, they were dirty great chopping swords, with their blade widening near the middle to tip in order to deliver a stronger blow with the blade, much like falcata's or nepalise Koukri's do. simison
I could, but since this is a weapon created from the Emperor's own hand, I decided to leave out the Greek influence. I'm all for a better name, just one that connects to the authority of the Warmaster. Ah, fair enough, I'll tweak it then.
Grifftofer
Ok. My thoughts are along these lines: Range S AP Type Spear of Terra - +1/+2* 1 Melee, Force, Lance, Strikedown, Master-crafted *The Spear of Terra provides +2 to strength in the first round of any combat and a +1 to strength in successive rounds. Gives him a nice big hit at the beginning of combat regardless of whether he charges (something I think all power lances should do). He can still imbue it with psychic energy through Force and it is Master-crafted as it is from the Emperor's own hands. Lance and Strikedown are more situational and not likely to come up too often, but could be nice to have and fit with the idea of a strong thrust from a spear in my opinion of course. Chief Captain Redd
Has any thought about the Mechanicum and the civil war on Mars? I may have missed it. But I'm curious as it would seem logical they'd have a close connection to the Iron Bears. Also would anyone be against greater integration of Squats/Demiurge and Abhumans in general? I had a couple of ideas there. Also I apologize for being backed up on writing thankfully I have nothing go on this weekend so I'm going to be catching up. Also, the Spear of Terra is a name which manages to be both grandiose and yet uncluttered. A simple elegance that in the setting convays a great deal of authority. MikhalLeNoir
Yeah, Spear of Terra sounds great. Sometimes the easiest option is the best. Or as we in Germany say: "Manchmal sieht man den Wald vor lauter Bäumen nicht." Maybe you could implement a buff rule in warmaster alex: like +x for every loyalist space marine etc. or fear for every traitor. You could even implement a jealousy rule which affects the lightning beares and icarion or hateful rage by alexos or raktra.
simison
Nothing has been changed with the Mechanicum as of now. The biggest possible change would be if we had a different Fabricator-General, but I don't see how. If nothing is different, then that's where Alex spends the first few months of the Insurrection, reclaiming Mars. Other than that, feel free to add an interesting relationship between them and the Bears. Sure, I'm curious what you've got. No rush. The project is slowing down but we still have a nice, steady pace. Thanks!
simison
That's an interesting rule, Mikhal. But I think it would work better if it was tied to a scenario instead of Alex. Grifft, I think you have a solid base there. I find the Lance an elegant touch, since it compensates Alex's weakness to vehicles.
