Hmmm, actually, now that I think about it, that might be a needed trigger to even the war between Traitors and Loyalists while giving the Revolutionaries the needed anarchy to escape.

Invictus, do you mind if the Jackels join the Revolutionaries at first before splitting away towards the end of the Insurrection?

I feel A bit bad now because I didn't realize how many other people were doing similiar themes to my legion before I hopped on @_@

++Ghost Walkers disposition++

I already saw two or three apothecary heavy legions, however, my primarch will likely not be one himself. I'm considering my legion to consist of three D's (get your mind out of the gutter Slaanesh): Despoilers, Destroyers, and Dreadnoughts. I've considering giving all legion astartes: Ghost walkers the scout and move through cover special rule to represent their pathfinding nature. They are essentially the force recon and assaulters for larger Imperial Army groups. However, they'll have leadership debuffs due to their fractitous nature revolving around various chieftains or warlords.

++Pre Legion homeworld++

Their planet's name was designated Tuetoberge from old Terran legends due to the world spanning forests. The inhabited part of the planet is tide locked in eternal fall year round except for the dark side or the poles. This leads to a more melancholic disposition of the culture, though their blood runs hot when baited to battle. This legion is essentially made up of a lot of Scorpios for those of you who understand astrological symbols.

++Discovery of Coch'ise - the "Fallen Star"++

The XXth primarch - later named Coch'ise by the Teutobergeans - appeared as a falling comet (a good omen) to the tribes on the planet. Immediately, the various tribes sent out their own ambitious, prospective warriors to find the "Fallen Star" and see what good fortunes would await them. Legend had it that a great spirit would drop from the heavens and impart itself into a mortal man, who would later become the greatest warrior and fighter the world had ever seen. Such a man would be able to unite the hard headed Tuetobergeans and lead them under one banner to conquer all.

So it was that the greatest Tribe nations such as the Hauks, the Behrs, the Mohics, and many others sent their best and brightest to receive this gift of the heavens. The medicine men had foreseen this event coming and gave their blessings to those their tribes sent out. It was not without cost however...

Upon finding the oddly shaped meteorite, the first warrior found himself engaged in a vicious fight not too long later with other warriors seeking their coronation into legend. While each of the fighters were in the swirling Melee, a lone figure slinked out of the woods - a young man that could've been said to be wrapped in his own shadow. For he brief moment he was spotted, it could be seen he was daubed in the cream colored clay of the Phantom tribe. Masters of ambush and opportunists, it surprised many at the battle that the Phantom's had sent one of their own to retrieve the Star. To many, the Phantoms had gained their sobriquet with just cause, and it was thought they had passed into legend after not being spotted for over 300 lunar cycles.

While the various warriors of the other choleric tribes were caught in the swirling combat, the Phantom found his opportunity and grabbed he contents of the fallen star before disappear into the woods again. A few warriors tried to stop the young man, but were subsequently killed or axed in the back as they rushed after him...

The man was gone and they had missed their chance. Rather than go back in shame to their tribes, the remaining few fought to the death or scattered into the woods to live a solitary life. It would not be for a few years until the Fallen Star to rise again...

What are your thoughts so far guys? I just put it all up here to try and brainstorm before I commit to a thread of my own :)

Fluff and themewise its sufficiently different from my Apothecary Boys to be a viable one to go with.

...Also, having a Natural Dreadhead inclined Legion...:wub.:

Yeah the Ancients wi be added later, but they represent wisdom, tactical acumen, as a spiritual guide for the younger warriors :)

So, Thorns suggestion about having a type of armour specifically made for void/3D zone warfare gave me the idea for a couple of units. Heres the rules I made for them.

Please bear in mind it's very early in the morning in Europe so I"m tired meaning these could probably do with a fair bit of balancing

Fluff: When a Legion is going into a war zone where it's likely to encounter combat in 3D environements, it forms Void Combat Squads of its finest void combat marines. These squads act as both the legions principal unit in 3D environements and also as quick response teams to areas where normal space marines would be unsuited to fighting.

Void Combat Squad, 170 points.

Void marine WS4 BS4 S4 T5 A1 I4 W1 LD8 SV3++

Wargear: Void hardened armour, volkie culverin, close combat weapon, bolt pistol, frag&krak grenades.

Unit size: 10 space marines

Special rules: Legiones Astartes, 3D specialists.

3D specialists: Void marines don't suffer any negative effects from fighting in a 3D environement.

Options:

May take up to 10 more Void marines for +12 points each.

Every Void marine may take:

Boarding shield +5 points each.

One in every five Void marines may take:

Las cutters +5 points

Grav gun +10 points

Melta bombs +5 points

Power weapon +10 points

Power fist +15 points

Fluff: Among the ranks of those legions who specialize in 3D combat, there are those who excell above and beyond the standard their legion requires of them. These individuals are formed into Kill teams, units of a legions finest killers in 3D environements. Armoured in the rare MkIII b armour, these marines are unmatched in their killing power in their chosen environement.

Kill Team, 300 points

Kill Team marine WS4 BS4 S4 T5 A2 I4 W1 LD9 SV3++

Wargear: MkIII b "Void" armour, Jurraka pattern bolter, volkite culverin, close combat weapon, bolt pistol, frag&krak grenades, melta bombs.

Unit size: 10 Kill team marines.

Special rules: Legiones astartes, 3D specialists.

Options:

Any Kill team marine may replace his Jurrakan pattern bolter with

Jurrakan pattern lascutter +10 points

Jurrakan pattern melta +15 points

Jurrakan pattern plasma pistol +15 points.

One in every five Kill team marines may take

Power weapon +10 points

Power fist +15 points

"Void" armour: Models equipped with void armour treat all dangerous terrain as difficult terrain and all difficilt terrain as norma terrain.

Jurrakan pattern Bolter R18" S4 AP5 rapid fire.

I'm really impressed by the origin fluff, Depthcharge. And don't worry about overlap. None of these legions were designed to operate in the same universe. That said, you've definitely established the Ghost Walkers as their own legion.

Tomorrow, at some point, I'm going to make an amoury thread. It'll be for generic relics, weapons, and equipment, or at least that can be shared across legions. (I think you mentioned something of the sort, earlier Slips.)

Kinda, Its this:

CopyPasta'd from my thread:

-Wave Blade

+ A Wave Blade is a Power Sword variant native to Iona made from an Ore found only in the Deepest Oceanic Ridges. The Resulting Metal is of an unmatched Glacial-Blue and the Blades are only allowed to be created by the Greatest of the Legiones Armorium Artificers. It is due to this that the weapon isn't as widespread throughout the Legion being mostly found in the hands of Legion Officers. It has also been used as a Gift presented to the Commanding Officers of exceptional Inter-Legion Operations involving the Scions Hospitalier (CREATIVE LICENCE FOR Y'ALL TO GIVE THEM TO SOME OF YOUR OWN CHARACTERS)

+ A Character with the LA(SH) special rule with the option to purchase a thunderhammer may, for +20 Points, exchange their Chainsword/Combat Blade and/or Bolt Pistol for a Wave Blade.

+ A Wave Blade has the following Profile:

Range: --, Strength: +2, Ap3, Melee, Specialist Weapon, Rending (5+), Duelist's Edge, Master Crafted

It's alright. And yeah, I didn't want to shoot you down, but you came in late into development.

Now, there are two other routes to become part of the project. And this goes for any other late arrivals.

This was suggested by Thorn (and dude, hope you don't mind that I'm throwing out this idea right now). While the Fabricator-General is still an important role that we may need to keep Hal there, we do have other High Lords of Terra that wield extraordinary power and influence. The Horus Heresy, as far as I know, doesn't make much use of them, but that doesn't mean we can't. Thorn has already called dibs on the Paternova.

So I've gone ahead and created a thread for the Grand Councils (War Council pre-Qarith and Council of Terra) here: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312505-brotherhood-of-the-lost-the-grand-councils/

If you want to participate but were late joining your Legion to the project, then go call dibs on one of the Grand Councilors.

NB: I've reserved Malcador for all of the participants, and I've given a few other introductory rules, but these can still be changed if needed.

NB2: Simison has also suggested Kelbor-Hal, Fabricator General of Mars, be off limits, for much the same reasons as Malcador

I just wanted to say thank you to the Lost Brothers who are taking the time to help develop the unfinished legions. I wish I could be helping, but the overall project is keeping me busy.

It does me good to know that if the project were ever to implode (for whatever improbable reason), something permanent was accomplished.

Again, I salute thee.

Hey guys, I know it's kind of offtopic, but this is about how Alexos comes to his end and gives a small insight into Alexos and the heresy, both me and Mikha wrote our own side of the story. We didnt really know where to post it, but, in out opinion it's too awesome not to post our stories :D, here is my side of the story:

'I looked up, spreading my dark veined wings wide. I felt like a god, my body was full of dark energy, and my muscles aflame with the warp. I saw Icarion lead the front assault on the fortress, his godlike form slicing through crimson lions and wardens of the light alike like wet paper.

I suddenly felt something pull my attention away from Icarion. I looked around me, trying to find it's scource. I noticed a white armored warrior with black blades standing on one of the rooftops of golden fortress. A old friend, once my student and once my tutor, a god amongst men.

I jumped, my wings carrying me to the warrior, I raised my spear when I was almost within speaking distance. I looked around me one last time, seeing thousands upon thousands of astartes die hundreds of meters below me and my old brother.

"Brother!" I jelled in my demonic twin voice, I saw the warrior standing straighter. His body language betrayed disgust, but also love to me. I grinned, my adamantium teeth shining in the almost smoked out sun.

I landed in front of Gwalchavad, my dark spear shimering with purple warp flames, my eyes aflame with energy. "Brother, it has been so long! I know our last... Conversation... Went rather downhill, but everything changed! We changed! We are at the triumph now! Join me brother, let me show you the future, become the king warrior of the god!" I said, slowly walking closer to him. "Alexos... You were perfect already Alexos. Now you are nothing more then a pawn. I will never join your gods, why did you do this... Deamon" Gwalchavad whispered, slowly bringing his blades up, he started pacing towards me, his mask hiding the ancient warrior's emotions.

Alexos met Gwalchavad head on, his spear blocking three lightning quick perfect strikes from the ancient warrior. It would have killed any mortal and at least have severely wounded any primarch. But Alexos was no primarch, he was a deamon now. A living god. Gwalchavad struck once more, a strike unexpected by the deamon, a hidden knife bit into Alexosses stomach, a telling blow indeed.

Alexos groaned but then struck back with warp fueled muscles, using his energized demon claw. He ripped into Gwalchavad's chest, jerking out a pumping heart. It would not be enough to kill his brother, but it was a severe blow anyway.

Gwalchavad staggered, his second and third heart pumping heavily. He fell on his side, almost at the edge of blacking out.

Gwalchavad quickly regained his senses, and jerked upright. Blocking a hammer blow from the deamon primarch with crossed blades. He kicked the deamon in the stomach where the knife was still stuck in the deamon and disengaged, quickly bringing his left arm around, slicing through the power field generator of Alexosses spear. Gwalchavad then used his centuries of training to weave aside from three of the lightning fast strikes of Alexos with his energized claw. Then suddenly, Alexos was gone.

Gwalchavad looked around him, confused at how Alexos managed to dissapear so quickly. A sting of pain suddenly hit Gwalchavad hard, his own hidden blade stuck in his side, Alexos was standing a few meters away, looking at the wounded primarch before him. Gwalchavad jerked the knife out, barely believing his brother had made such a cowardly move. He tossed the knife aside, and ran at Alexos, the deamon seemingly enjoying that Gwalchavad was in pain. Gwalchavad smashed his right blade into the shoulder of Alexos, he had aimed his blow at the chest, but the deamon melted into the wind like water, even Gwalchavad's martial art techniques weren't quick enough. Soon he was lying on the ground, one of his blades ripped of and another wound on his belly.

Alexos walked closer, throwing his spear and pieces of Gwalchavad's armor in his deamon claws to the ground below, and he lifted Gwalchavad. The deamon primarch lifted the damaged warrior over his malformed head, ready to throw the primarch a hundred meters down into the raging war below. As he threw Gwalchavad, a mask fell by Alexosses head. It took the deamon a moment before he realized what it was. Gwalchavad was now in mid air in front of him. And the time froze...

Alexos looked into the eyes of his old friend, seeing the two beautifull glowing white orbs that were his brother's. He saw the fading stars in them, only suddenly being covered by a sea of sorrow and loss. And... Then suddenly, Alexosses muscles started to ache, he felt his body being sucked away. He opened his eyes in a unfamiliar face. The warp was all around Alexos. He was floating in a sea of deamons and lost souls, screaming his anger and fear, knowing he had been banished to the warp for eternity.

Gwalchavad hit the ground hard, landing on top of a Eagle Warrior rhino, crushing the front half whole.

He stared around him, tears painting his face. And... He screamed and moaned out of sorrow into the air of ancient Terra. Alexos had been banished and Icarion was losing. The traitors were losing, the war was ending. Gwalchavad would remember this day until the stars burned out, his sorrow of losing a brother never fully fading away.'

And here comes my side of the story:

The white knight stood alone on the top of a white marble roof. The imperial palace wasn’t the peaceful place Gwalchavad had enjoyed to stay at. The past few days hell broke lose and the place became a living nightmare. Amidst this hell fought the prideful astartes, who defended mankind against a collaboration of once loyal Astartes and deamons. Deep down, Gwalchavad could see Icarion the Arch-Traitor, leading the front assault against the defending marines who were mere children compared to his dark powers.

As Gwalchavad prepared to support the Astartes against Icarion, his attention was caught by something else, someone was watching him from afar. The hairs on Gwalchavads neck tingled as he saw the watching beast. A big creature, with an eagle like head, big pale leathery wings folded to it's back. It's spear went high into the air as it landed in front of Gwalchavad with wolf like bended legs. A three fringered claw coated in purple flames flikered heavily. The monster looked around, looking as if delighted at the massacre which took place hundreds of metres from him. This was no normal deamon, Gwalchavad recognized the once proud armor and stance of a primarch, which now was a twisted travesty of its past glory. But what convinced Gwalchavad of the bitter truth was the spear the creature held in it's hand… A golden spear with eagle ornaments covering it. The spear his brother Alexos got as a present from his brother Daer’dd at their first meeting. The blade was now black, covered with the same purple flames the deamon also carried on it's bestial claw.

„Brother“ the creature smiled. „Brother, it has been a long time… I know that our last conversation went… Rather downhill. But... Everything changed! We changed! We are at the triumph now! Join me brother, let me show you the future, become the king warrior of the true gods!" Gwalchavad tensed his muscles while the monster slowly came nearer. "Alexos... You were perfect already Alexos. Now you are nothing more than a pawn. I will never join your gods, why did you do this... Deamon" Gwalchavad whispered, slowly bringing his blades up, he started pacing towards his old friend, hiding his emotions behind his mask.

Gwalchavad increased his speed and at the last instance activated his jump pack, gaining momentum. Crushing with his shoulder into Alexos who met the Primarch head on. In a fluid motion Gwalchavad threw three perfectly timed strikes against his enemy. The demon blocked them with with his spear, as if they hadn't bothered him much. Strikes which would have proven deadly for a mortal. But this was no mere mortal, this was a deamon primarch, a living god. The power of the emperors sons, fused with the power of the dark gods. No human could dream of having a chance against such a foe.

Gwalchavad didn’t give in. He attacked again, even faster than before, a fluid motion, a dance of death. He attacked from different angles and worked himself piece by piece through Alexos defense. And then he connected, a fast feint, a swirl, one quick motion with his head, and the hidden blade inside Gwalchavads braid, found his way into the stomach of his adversary. Alexos hadn’t seen it coming and was surprised by the unexpected strike.

The Deamon groaned, Gwalchavad disconnected and danced backwards, preparing himself for the next attack. Alexos countered merciless. He smashed his fist into Gwalchavads mask making him fly through the air. The stunned primarch was able to recover, but the warp infused muscles of Alexos gave Gwalchavad barely any time. He charged in, letting down overhelming attacks with his spear which Gwalchavad could hardly escape, and then he struck forward with his energized claw. Unknown pain exploded in Gwalchavads chest as the Deamon ripped through his armor and tore one of the primarch's pumping hearts out.

Gwalchavad toppled, his remaining hearts pumping wild. Gwalchavads vision faded, but he forced himself up, just in time to block a fast blow with his black blades. Alexos and Gwalchavad stared at each other over their weapons. On one side the burning insanity of Alexos, on the other the calm silence of Gwalchavad. Alexos forced Gwalchavad slowly down, but, in an eyeblink Gwalchavad jumped backwards. Kicking the deamon primarch in the stomach, the knife still stuck there bit deeper into the flesh of the fowl beast. Fast like the wind he turned a counterattack from alexos around and with a riposte he cut through the field generator of Alexos spear. Thanks to his centuries of training, Gwalchavad was able to dodge three exposive strikes from Alexos claw, but then suddenly when Gwalchavad focussed, Alexos was gone.

Gwalchavad searched for his enemy irritated. Not believing that his former pupil could vanish so quickly, suddenly a sting of pain hit him in the side. Alexos stood a few metres away and had used Gwlachavads hidden blade against him. Gwalchavad jerked the knife out, barely believing his brother had made such a cowardly move. Alexos stared bemused at the wounded primarch. The white knight threw the knife aside in disgust and charged at the laughing enemy. Alexos savoured the sight of Gwalchavads pain and awaited the next attack. The Primarch aimed for Alexos chest, but as Alexos melted away like water, his black blade smashed into the shoulder. Even as Gwalchavads skill and speed increased, his attacks didn’t connect. All his strikes where dodged, the former Primarch simply melting away and Gwalchavads attempts were like trying to cut water with a sword. Even his formidable skills found no way of defeating his lost brother.

Once the hellish figure had enough of this play, he attacked with full force, Gwalchavad was like a leaf in the wind, encountering a tornado. Gwalchavad crashed hard on the floor, one of his blades ripped from his hands and a gushing wound on his lower belly.

Alexos walked slowly to the wounded figure, throwing his broken spear and parts of Gwalchavads armor to the floor. „Brother….you should have joined us…You shouldn’t have declined my offer…now there is nothing left for you…only death!!!" Alexos then lifted the beaten warrior over his deformed head, ready to throw him into the abyss. As he threw the primarch, Gwalchavad whispered softly „Forgive me brother, I have failed us…forgive me…“ Gwalchavad lost all hope of saving his brother and removed his mask while he fell. The mask flew besides Alexos head and suddenly burning eyes met white glowing orbs.

Time froze...

Gwalchavad saw the madness in his brothers eyes. The eternal damnation that Alexos had chosen. But then he also saw his brother who looked back at him. His former tutor, his former pupil. Then Alexos pain, as the reality bended and Alexos's soul was sucked out of his deamonic form while looking into Gwalchavads eyes. His deamon form slowly burned inward as it dissolved into the warp.

Time moved on...

Gwalchavad hit the ground hard, landing on top of a Eagle Warrior rhino, crushing the front half whole.

He stared around him, tears painting his face. And... He screamed and moaned out of sorrow into the air of ancient Terra….

I notice I haven't been concretely set into any of the lists yet, other than being the XXth Primarch. I did this just because I thought that was the only one left :P

The Ghost Walkers will be moderately large, somewhere in the middle tier...about 145,000 legionaries or so if the highest is around 200. They are nominally traitors at this point and are either pro Tzeentch or undivided. However, they are very anti mutation and won't retreat into any warp anomaly without issues.

I propose we have the galaxy divided, with the traitors/succesionists cutting out their own Empire. Less of the Carthaginian wars and more akin to the American Civil war (or more like what it should've been). Not so much conquer to win but fighting to retain a separate Empire's rights.

If we follow too closely to the actual heresy, it may get boring and just be heresy 2.0 with different names.

While the idea is cool, y'know that Tzeentch is alllllll about that mutation and change so....you're boys might have trouble staying relatively...whole...if their primary patron is Tzeentch.

Undivided might be the easiest route to go, imo.

...Though Tzeentchians currying for his favor yet rejecting any gifts of the flesh he would bestow might make for some nice tension and stuff.

There was definitely going to be a different galaxy left after the Insurrection, that much is sure.

As to another legion going Chaos Undivided, with Khorne and Nurgle corrupting their own personal legions, Slaanesh and Tzeentch won't dare be left behind.

Finally, to Mikhal & Alpha, excellent collaboration piece. Some of the details might change (we're still not sure where Icarion and the final battle will be), but those can be changed without hurting their narratives. The only thing I'm not sure about is the eternal banishment of Alexos. I was under the impression that any daemonic entity couldn't be permanently banished, minus the Emperor's direct intervention.

I'd be inclined to agree about the banishment seeing as the Emperors version usually amounts to Obliteration on the Level of Anti-Matter and Matter colliding but with a Soul and no release of pure energy.

No problem. It could be altered like this:

" He was floating in a sea of deamons and lost souls, screaming his anger and fear, knowing he had been so close and now have been thrown to the immaterium."

Something like this. And yeah. The details are easy switched. We chose to let icarion take a more active role in the battle but that could be altered. If not icarion. Another primarch could lead the attack. Or something likr that
