Advice needed!

Hello! I have a game coming up in a couple of weeks vs nid. (750)

Unfortunately my model count is limited, and I will be using D-99 rules.

I have an 3 five man units with mortar grenade launcher and flamer. I know I will be facing a hordy list, and will also have SM allies to go for the MC. Its my first game as guard, so any tips would be welcome!

Could you give us more info on your list? That would help out a lot. Flamers are great against hordes but you need to get close enough to use them for them to be effective, so don't scrimp on the longer range weaponry. Plasma is good for taking down MCs, but Marine grav is good too if you have it.

Considering you're using a very niche army like the D-99, a model list would help this a lot.

 

For example, a Vulture is near mandatory in that army. BS4 on that baby is just sick and tears nids apart. Do you have the men for their special weapon squads? What do you own in the realm of Valkyries? How do your marine allies look?

 

Without these, all I can give is that Vulture advice.

Thing is i don't have flyers, and only 5 more IG models xD.

I could replace the termies with more PA troops but i rather have their deepstrike and staying power.

My plan is to have termies hunt the big bugs and have one unit with the flamer deepstriking behind enemy lines.

The tacs will be distraction fooder so the mortar and GL pepper them with bombs.

But it feels lacking. Could a regular IG list work better?
Got a chimera and a bunker aswell. and a stromraven xD

Swap the command squad's melta for the veteran squad's flamer. Concentrates that firepower nicely without sacrificing AT. Use the remaining points to add a single body to the mortar veteran squad, to help insure you can survive turn 1 until reinforcements show up (I think you can afford one guy). Consider dropping Culn if he doesn't work for you this game. He is kinda expensive for a 750 army but worth it if he can come to grips with the enemy. Don't be afraid to deploy the terminators and him instead of deep striking them. Those storm bolters and assault cannon can do work for the extra turns, especially against nids.

Sound advice.

Culn gives some good rules for his price. its the captain version.

Against all odds rule will be useful vs a hordy army.

Good point on deploying termies.
