Duke Danse Macabre
Something that has been bothering me for a while now as I am in the process of aquiring all 3 Cerastus FW Varient knights and would like to run them together. Issue is though that they cost 1195 Naked together so ina 1500 point list you don't have allot to play with and Adding in the "Santuary" artifact even less so the question is. How do you spend your remaining points gaining protection from issues like Flyers and much bigger issues. Drop Pods? CommodusXIII
I see the FW Knights as specialists, and the GW Knights as the mainstays. So my 3 Knight army would be Paladins and/or Errants with carapace weapons to handle flyers, provide additional AT firepower and/or fill out the point limit. Skitarii cover the vulnerabilities of Knights rather well, so that may be worth some experimentation. jeffersonian000
Tyranid mucilid pods are excellent defensive units to add to your FW IK army. Think of them as defensive balloons. Slips
Agreeing with Commodus. The Cerastus Knights are, imo, mostly there to shore up any deficiencies that may crop up in an all-knight army; such as the Acheron and its hellstorm ap3 flamer to deal with Horde Armies, Castigator for more general-purpose anti-infantry, Lance to hunt down other Knights, MCs, GMCs etc. So, I'd use them as such. 1500 pts for pure knights is very hard to do since an army such as this truly shines in 2.5k+ games since you can take a LOT more Knights in dedicated roles for them to excel in instead of potentially being out of their Element. +++ That being said, are you dead-set on using only the FW knights? Because, tbh, you'd be better served with Errants/Paladins with a FW knight to shore up a particular weakness that you, in your local meta, would encounter the most frequently. And, since you aren't paying ~400 Points per knight but closer to 350, you've got a bit more leeway to flesh out a supporting force. SJ Or you could get the automated turret fortifications with skyfire lascannons instead of commiting heresy ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312022-3-knight-armies-suvivability/#findComment-4139575 Share on other sites
jeffersonian000
Not Heresy, just using the right unit for the right job, with appropriate conversations. Duke Danse Macabre
Issue I have in my local meta is jetbikes are rife so I need flamers but also are large blobs and other knights/ wraith knights so all 3 fit the bill. Also they do look very nice together. Trying to keep it bound and battleforged so staying away from nids I am afraid, great ourside the box thinking though. Often thought anti air turrents but they just don't do anything against pods. CommodusXIII
I also wouldn't bother with the Sanctuary relic. Mark of the Omnissiah will greatly contribute to the survivability of your Warlord. For protection from Drop Pods, allying in Skitarii with Onager Dunecrawlers can provide some potent Interceptor firepower. Precision Deep Strike will always be a valid counter to Knights, unfortunately, so you'll just have to weather it. Duke Danse Macabre
I would love to but it comes to the issue of points. Wish it was not the case but things get costly.
