The Rapier Armoured Carrier is an ancient device, one of many such technological relics of the dawning days of Mankind’s stellar empire. It is a bulky, armoured track unit, which mounts a powerful antomantic reactor and is capable of carrying weapons heavier than even a Space Marine could easily manage. The long-range firepower of the quad mortar, one of the Rapiers many weapon options, is used to suppress enemy troops and even crack through their armoured bunkers.

The Space Marine Rapier Quad Mortar can be taken as part of a Legiones Astartes army in Horus Heresy games, for which rules can be found in the Legiones Astartes Crusade Army List. It can also be used in Space Marine Armies in standard games of Warhammer 40,000.

Rules for using this unit in Space Marine Armies can be found HERE

Adding firepower to vehicles from the lightly armoured Javelin Attack Speeder to lumbering super- heavy tanks, pintle mounted weapons are ubiquitous in the armies of the Legiones Astartes. Heavy bolters and heavy flamers decimate enemy infantry whilst multi-meltas burn through the hulls of their tanks.

The Space Marine Legion Pintle Weapons set consists of two multi-meltas, two heavy flamers and one heavy bolter as well as gunner arms and pintle mounts for each weapon so you can upgrade up to five vehicles. It also includes a solid cupola and twin linked bolter cupola for upgrading Deimos pattern Rhinos and vehicles based on the same chassis.

This is a multi-part resin upgrade kit consisting of twenty four parts.

This kit is available to pre-order today for despatch from Friday 14th August

Does anyone no if these (the quad mortars) will also be included for Chaos Space Marines ? Because if so, they might well be my first ever Forge World order (along with a couple of other things of course...).

Hold up... It's now for 40k too!? With Chapter Tactics??

This unit is hands down superior to a Thunderfire cannon.

Not to mention it looks far more awesome than the Thunderfire...

EDIT: and the variant codices (BA, DA, SW) and forge world armies also get them, which is brilliant !

For the moment, it looks like your only options are the five choices on page 124 of IA XIII.

You get three of these for ~120 points less than three Thunderfire Cannon, which is plenty to spend on a Techmarine separately if you want Bolster Defences and Repair, which otherwise you'd lose, buth that's the only downside I can see to taking them. Also, £6 each less in cost terms, which is not bad at all.

I dig the Mk IV crew, though I can understand why others might not, and I'm a big fan of the pintle-mount weapons. My Rhinos need never feel naked again!

Don't get me wrong, I love the DKoK Thudd Gun, but it really looks out of place in an advanced, galaxy-conquering, all-environments army of super-men.

Love the new Quad Mortar, and I really appreciate that they're giving us alternate armour mark crew.

Did anyone else notice there's still an unreleased MkII Rapier crew that was previewed at the WW Reopening?

I wonder how they'll release these guys. Honestly it would make more sense to just sell the crews and Rapiers separately wouldn't it? Maybe they'll make a move that way eventually, or we'll see a new Rapier weapon.
