BLUESH33P
I'm pretty happy with how I've painted my army, but I'm planning on selling up and starting over with a successor chapter (Maybe Angels Encarmine) but I really want my sanguinary guard to look particularly special. My current SG is just the default gold & stuff but with a moderate amount of blood, I love 'em, and I think they could sell pretty well, but I want to know how you guys have done them. PS: I know I've seen a really cool white and red SG on this forum before with smooth edged masks but for the life of me I can't find them, if anyone knows the original post I would be eternally grateful! Charlo
While not done yet, mine are going to be black, as they're going to all be Chaplains :D Like the council that Astorath has or something in the fluff. Like the Dark side to the SG. Lucien Eilam
Canonically, all Sanguinary Guard are gold, except the Angels Encarmine, who wear white with black wings. ChapelXIII
I just did mine in the regular Gold and white wings. If I was to paint them differently I would definitely do the alabaster of the Angels Encarmine. Just google search them and one of the first photos is of some Sanguinary Guard. They look wonderful. I like the idea of it as it seems to tie back to Eastern Colors where white is the color or death and sadness. Fits the motif very well. Stercus
I've used a fair few parts from the sanguinary guard kit to bling up my custom chapter's vanguard veterans. I plan on using black and steel as a contrast to the more usual gold. BadDice0809
Yeah I think the guy from The Basement Collective bought them or something. The army was made by a guy whose handle is Wolfpack something something. But his work was incredible. Arkangilos
Canonically, all Sanguinary Guard are gold, except the Angels Encarmine, who wear white with black wings. All of the *known* official chapters. There is nothing saying successor chapter's can't have different colors. Lucien Eilam
Nope. The successor Chapters invariably maintain a Sanguinary Guard and Death Company of their own, following the same colour schemes as those laid down by the Blood Angels. The only exception are the Angels Encarmine who adorn both these specialist units in alabaster white armour. marine7312000
I was very jealous of the person he sold that army to..... But as a consolation prize, he converted and painted a Secret Santa mini for me last year. That reminds me.... I need to get painting ... Not on Wolf_Pack's model mind you.... On someone else... BLUESH33P
Thanks for all the help guys, I wish I was able to like all of these responses (Darn limit)! I think I"ll end up going with a very bright silver, white and dark red for them, and maybe I'll try the trimmed death masks. Stercus
I've trimmed the deathmasks and then greenstuffed them to look more like helmets. Threefiddy
I go for white with black wings, just like the way they look alongside my Flesh Tearer marines, nice contrast against the dark red. Sure I could think up some fluffy reason why the Angel Encarmine guard are assisting Seth and the gang. But go for whatever floats your boat! Always nice to see something original.
