sockwithaticket
It's not Sanguinary Guard, but I use shaved down deathmasks for my counts-as special characters. The ones without much iconography can look a bit Michael Meyers-esque. This should give you an idea of how they look with only the halos trimmed off, no other stuff added:http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2015/8/1/733304_mb-.JPGhttp://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2015/4/24/707627_mb-.JPGhttp://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2015/4/13/704844_mb-.JPGhttp://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2015/4/24/707638_mb-.JPG Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312177-how-does-everyone-paint-their-sanguinary-guard/page/2/#findComment-4143842 Share on other sites

sockwithaticket
Those are sweet as candy, sock. They knock mine out of the park. Love it. Cheers, mate. In fairness I kept mine as masks rather than take on the task of turning them into helmets and yours aren't done yet, I'm sure they'll look just grand. Â Â Â *snip* Â Those are exactly the ones I was talking about, they look incredible! Â Ah, well glad to be of service and flattered to have been referenced in the OP. Thank you very much. Closet Skeleton
I did mine cream with white highlights, because Alabaster isn't pure white. Â But I always wanted to do some that were black with a very light boltgun metal drybrush and with red wings highlighted up to orange. Ohrtanc
I painted my Sanguinary Guard with green wings and because I don't like the look of the deathmasks I converted/used some helmets out of the BA Tactical box to look like the Sanguinary Guard helmets.  http://i567.photobucket.com/albums/ss111/Marvin_Otterbein/Blood%20Angels/2%20ELITE/Sanguinary%20Guard%20Squad%20with%20Dante%20-%2004_zpsdzj8kark.jpg  http://i567.photobucket.com/albums/ss111/Marvin_Otterbein/Blood%20Angels/2%20ELITE/Sanguinary%20Guard%20Squad%20with%20Dante%20-%2006_zpsr6v4yigq.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312177-how-does-everyone-paint-their-sanguinary-guard/page/2/#findComment-4147724 Share on other sites
Stercus
I like the green wings. It's an unusual colour choice but it works. Grazcruzk
Yeah, I really like those green wings! I'll have to keep this in mind when I get around to painting some Dornian Heresy BAs. Father Mapple
I painted my Sanguinary Guard a copper color on all the armor surfaces. It's noticeably different than gold, and I use copper as the "veteran" color in my successor chapter rather than gold. The rest of the army is near flesh tearer colors, with death company and chaplains being white. Do the dark reds and Black's make the white death company and copper shiny sanguinary guard stand out. Basing and accent colors are the same as other units to make them still cohesive. Stercus
I've trimmed the deathmasks and then greenstuffed them to look more like helmets. I can try to snap some pics tomorrow if you're interested? That sounds good, I'd love to see them! heres how the helmets look on my finished models: will give you another heads up when I've painted them. (theres a few more pics of the squad if you follow the link in my signature) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312177-how-does-everyone-paint-their-sanguinary-guard/page/2/#findComment-4149409 Share on other sites
Charlo
Is that one of the Dreadnought arm guards as a shield? If so, awesome idea that I am stealing! Stercus
Yep. I've glued it to the shoulder pad, which comes from the command squad kit. Hopefully it should look like an articulated part. You can see it a bit better in some of the photos linked in my sig. Chaplain Admetus
Mine are gold with red wings and black trim. I have a (very dark) red and black Angels Sanguine scheme, and I felt that the black and red wings help tie everything together. Adeptus-Alaska
Talking about the heads, I wonder how they'd look with Stormcast Eternal heads...? unfortunately, those heads are a bit small(tiny really), BUT, they would work if you wanted to replicate the whole "pin-heads in power armor" aesthetic that GW seems to favor in their artwork.
