despite the lukewarm reception the DA accessories had, I think they have great potential and it's good to see MkII looking cool! (it is MkII right? :unsure: )

I'd imagine these are being pushed out (along with the Scars) because the next book is supposed to have basic rules for the remaining legions (thier Legiones Astartes rule) and maybe a relic or two, and who knows, perhaps a rite of war!

So once that's out people can make pretty good starts on any legion. Hopefully this will include 1ksons and Wolves too smile.png

Never say never. It's been confirmed that model wise the ranges for both Legions are pretty much done but the rules are still being tweaked. Whilst all sorts of rumours have flown around about what could be next, until the book is announced then it's fair game. 

 

Look at it this way though, it's better having them held back until they're as good as they possibly could be rather than throwing them through the door and picking up all the inconsistencies and bugs later

A clearer photo of the DA upgrade shoulders still doesn't change my opinion that I don't like the floating icon.

I dunno - it could be good, but I'll reserve judgement until I see them in person. However, from what I can make out, I think the sword hilt may be too long in proportion to the blade. Again, I'll reserve judgement until I see them up for order.

 

At least ForgeWorld weren't taking the proverbrial when they were asked at the Weekender "What would you like to see before Dark Angel shoulder pads? A Warlord Titan?" They did hold up on their end of the bargain, although I'm still on the lookout for the High Elf embroidery guide...

It does kind of annoy me that this pretty much confirms no Prospero (ie no Wolves in my mind) for at least 6 months to a year. Having said that the DA look really nice from what i have seen. I can't wait to see their rules.

I was hoping they'd just retcon the Wolves out of the Heresy completely.

Why? I'm censored.gifing sick of the die hard Wolf hatedom that crops up every so often here. You don't like the Wolves? Whatever, I don't much like the Word Bearers, and yet I don't think they should be written out, retconned or not get their time in the sun. Other players like the WBs, just like myself and others like the Wolves. Why is the idea that we, who've been waiting so bloody long for FW to get round to one of the opening events of the Heresy, actually get our turn so objectionable?

We know, you're upset your Legion isn't out right now, but every single time a release is announced there's a vocal base of SW players that just ruin a thread with their whining. You'll get your stuff. In fact, FW is trying to get your stuff perfect so they're taking their time with it. Patience.

 

40K still has plenty of accessories you can add to FW models to make them Wolfy and nothing is stopping you. In the meantime, either start a SW Legion using generic rules or play another Legion while you wait, perhaps you that would normally ally (or act as a foil) to the Wolves.

Eh, I don't like the Dark Angel upgrades as Dark Angels; they'll work perfectly for Iron Warriors (seriously, that helmet is purrfect), but as Dark Angels? I'm struggling to see the knightly-vibe that they ought to have. Maybe the unique units will carry that with vibe with some tabards? Better than robes, at least.

 

Blood Angels, as usual, look gorgeous. I can see some definite similarities to the Emperor's Children upgrades, at least, in so far as embellishment.

Easy to say when you've already had yours for years. The thing that really sticks in the craw here is a combination of the delays and the reasons. Constantly getting the thing you're most looking forward to pushed back is a substantially more frustrating experience than knowing to expect a long wait. It was a reasonable expectation that Prospero (one of the earliest events of the Heresy) would be one of the first few books, and yet we've only got delays and excuses for years. That (plus the numbers, thanks to the established fanbase) is probably why the Wolves are more vocal. There was little expectation that, say, the Scars would get FW attention quickly, because their role in the Heresy comes later. And yet they've started to get theirs before Wolves (with one of the earliest roles, and therefore a reasonable expectation for early-ish treatment) are even on the horizon. You have to see how that's galling for fans who've already been waiting years with no end in sight.

 

Then we have the reasons, usually coming down to 'they can't balance the rules'. Yet it's never the Wolves' rules, it always the Sons, Custodes or SoS that are apparently the stumbling block. While this is somewhat understandable, it is both frustrating that the thing I care about is being held back by other stuff, and doubly irritating when you realise that FW have managed to release multiple army lists (Mechanicum, Knights, Solar Auxila, Militia) while we wait for them to balance the stuff from Prospero. It kinda begs the question of how hard they're trying.

 

Then there's these new kits. Now I'm extremely happy for Scars and Angels fans, they've had a long wait as well. But we're now at a point where you don't even need to have been covered yet to get models. And yet we haven't even seen any WIP/concepts for the Wolves (even the Sons have had some concept work). Again, I don't really begrudge the Scars and Angels, it's just frustrating.

I think you should be compassionate to the SW fan base because they have been waiting. I do believe you play as a legion who has had their stuff from the beginning so it is fairly easy for you to say this.

I'm going to say this one time: This thread is about a preview of Dark and Blood Angels upgrades, not a bitch fest about the Wolves. The VI will get here when it gets here, and badmouthing FW, other players, or anything else about why they haven't been released yet isn't going to make them get here any faster.

 

Keep it on topic and quit baiting people with inflammatory remarks or I'm going to start handing out warning points.

Me too. Will have to wait to see them painted, and I'll likely buy them anyway because I'm desperate to get into the HH as a collector (and couldn't bring myself to do another legion), but they haven't exactly blown me away, at least not in the way the Scars ones did. I however can't wait for winged helmets and robes. MORE RRRROOOOBBBBEEEESSSS!

 

Also really dislike the weird facial censor on one of the helms. I quite liked censors as accessories, but stuck to a helm? Feels weird to me.
