The4thHorseman
I just recieved a Deredeo for my Army and didn't realize that the base is 80MM. Most of my Army is based on the Desert Basin resin bases from Secret Weapon Minatures, which are basically are small cracked earth type texture. They make an 80mm Round Edge Bases, but I would prefer the standard Beveled Edge. I guess I could cut the edge off and attach it to a beveled base. I suck at making my own bases so I usually buy Resin ones from places, however at the 80mm size there are very few options. My question is does anyone know of any manufactures that make "Desert (Mad Max:Fury Road)" type themed bases that are 80mm, really at this point any 80mm sceneic base would be nice to see, maybe I can convert to match. Thanks. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312189-deredeo-base-options/ Share on other sites
Carlson793
Citadel has a couple Technical Paints that produce a cracked earth finish: Agrellan Earth and Martian Ironearth. Rev. Tiberius Jackhammer
Are you familiar with making press-moulds? They're great for copying flat elements - you could copy scraps of base detail from your Secret Weapon bases, and apply those details to the blank 80mm base. Like is it a special mix of stuff that I use to mak a mold of, then Press Greenstuff into? Or what? Enlighten me please. I guess beggars can't be choosers. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312189-deredeo-base-options/#findComment-4143109 Share on other sites

(The sticks are often sold simply as 'Instant Mold'). Note that you can acheive a similar result using Green Stuff to form the mould - in that case you'd want to line the mould with vaseline or similar prior to pressing Green Stuff into it to create the copy. In your case, I'd recommend creating several paper-thin copies of the cracked earth, desert texture & ridges from your Desert Basin bases and use 'em to frankenstein together a surface for the blank 80mm base. Chaeron
Or, press moulds like Basius could give you the scope you're after on larger bases (similar to what has been recommended above). I've just got one through and am very excited to be using it going forward. Would recommend! I went to their homepage, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to order one? Peredyne
Did you see this on the website? [NOTE: You cannot currently buy BASIUS Pads as we are fulfilling the 2014 Kickstarter backer pledges. We expect that BASIUS will be available to buy from May 2015 onwards.] No update since then, though. Hopefully, they'll be commercially available soon - I believe Zinge in the UK sell some from the first run?
