Has anyone used Coat D'Arms Bright Gold?

From what I know about Coat D'Arms, they're the same formulas as the old GW paints. I used those old paints, and all the golds were garbage in my experience. If this is like the old one, I'd personally avoid it. The formula, pigments and consistency of the new GW paint lines are, again my opinion, much much better. I haven't used them, but that just brought back some bad memories of milky, separating golds, etc.

The Bright Gold is very different from the old GW Golds, bar the 2nd Ed. Shining Gold which was the greatest Gold paint GW ever had the privelage of selling.

Bask in it's magnificence wub.png - Not my hand, nor my pot :P

Back to Bright Gold though , as far as quality and consistency go it is pretty much identical to the Liberator Gold, I've had Bright Gold for about 3 years and it hasn't seperated on me once unlike all of GW's current Golds laugh.png

I agree that the Coat D'Arms range has some serious issues at times (hell I had a whole pot of Magic Metal dry out after only being opened once!), but when they get it right they do some awesome paints, you also need to remember that HMG make P3 paints too and I hear a lot less complaints about them thumbsup.gif

After comparing the two Golds however I am sriously convinced that HMG are the manufacturers of the new Citadel range too, because there is no way GW shelled out for a manufaturing plant and hired a bunch of chemists , which would agin lead into the idea that the new paints are the old paints in disguise ph34r.png

I'm no chemist, but I can tell the new paints, at least some of them, are very different from the old ones. I'm sure some are similar and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the Layer ones are basically the same as the old ones, but the bases and washes are different.

One of the easiest ways to tell is the fact they taste different. Gross, I know, but I lick my brushes more than I should. Old habits die hard.

I've still got most of a pot of that one. It gets so much use I'm going to be gutted when it runs out.

I'm a huge fan of DecoArt Metallics and Army Painter line of stuff. I used Worn Penny and Gold for highlighting - no complaints from me! Coat d'Arms is fun for nostalgia, IMO - I started in 3rd Edition, so revisiting some of the palettes that got me started painting always makes me happy. (Even though, as has been noted already, there are superior paints on the market.)
