m_r_parker
New releases for this week: Eidolon http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/catalog/product/600x620/99560102232_LordCommanderEidolon01.jpg Lord Commander Eidolon was the pre-eminent commander of the Emperor’s Children. An exemplar of the Legion, he embodied the perfection sought by the sons of Fulgrim. His arrogance and search for perfection led him to the ministrations of Chief Apothecary Fabius in his quest to ‘improve’ upon the designs of the Emperor of Mankind. A skilled and aggressive warrior who specialised in striking down his foes with a single blow, Eidolon carried a master crafted thunder-hammer and archaeotech pistol in to battle, and made use of a jump pack to strike with speed and surprise. The surgeries he endured enhanced him with a sonic shrieker grafted into his larynx that produced a howl so destructive it could shatter bone and armour. Lord Commander Eidolon is part of the Horus Heresy Character Series. He can be mounted on a removable display base depicting the remains of a shattered Deredeo pattern Dreadnought. A pair of optional heads, one helmeted and one bare, are included. Lord Commander Eidolon is presented in a Horus Heresy Character Series presentation box. This is a complete, multi-part resin kit. It includes one 32mm round base and one 50mm round base. MKIV Techmarine http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/catalog/product/600x620/99550101462_MkIVTechmarine01.jpg Specialists in the technological needs of their Legion, Techmarines are trained in the rites and secrets of the Mechanicum. They tread a fine line of loyalty between Legion and the Machine Cult of Mars but their duty comes above all other concerns, tasked as they are with overseeing the maintenance and manufacture of their Legions arsenal. Techmarines are often found in the heart of battle, repairing damaged vehicles and incanting words of supplication to beleaguered machine-spirits. This Mk IV Techmarine is armed with a servo-arm, power axe and bolt pistol. He wears modified MK IV power armour. Rules for using Techmarines in Horus Heresy Games can be found in the Legiones Astartes Crusade Army List. This is a complete, multi-part resin model supplied with a 32mm round base. MkIII Techmarine http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/catalog/product/600x620/99550101461_MkIIITechmarine01.jpg Specialists in the technological needs of their Legion, Techmarines are trained in the rites and secrets of the Mechanicum. MkVI Imperial Fist Shoulder Pads http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/catalog/product/600x620/99550101420_ImperialFistsMkVIShoulderPads.jpg A bastion of loyalty in a sea of treachery and doubt, the Imperial Fists stood firm against the betrayal of their brother Legions. The most loyal sons of the Emperor, they are the masters of constructing fortifications on an immense scale, and accepted the honour of fortifying and defending Terra from the oncoming storm of the Horus Heresy. These Mk VI shoulder pads feature Imperial Fists Legion iconography. Each set contains 10 resin Space Marine shoulder pads. I'm dissapointed the Techmarines aren't a set, as £22 per model is a bit much. Loving Eidolon, and no doubt others will be happy that he's only at £45 (and not higher like some of the other character models) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312377-forgeworld-new-releases-140815-eidolon-techmarines/ Share on other sites
Slips
He Costs the same as Sigismund so its not that far of a Stretch. Especially since he's got a Deredeo for a Base. Also, Like the Spot of Black they painted on Eidolon. Not a color you usually see with Emperors Children. The Techmarines, while very nice, I feel are a bit bland :\ Might grab a few anyways for army needs. Viridia
Those techmarines are amazing! But £22 each? Methinks I'll call no-no on that one. Interesting to see them pushing 32mm bases as well. Balthamal
Bases are definitely getting bigger aren't they. I like him though, it's good to see more characters coming out for Legions who haven't got them yet. Techmarines look good but not really going to get them Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312377-forgeworld-new-releases-140815-eidolon-techmarines/#findComment-4146311 Share on other sites
WolfOfHorus
Maybe it's just the photos, but Eidolons right leg looks oversized. Reyner
For another £2.50 I can get the 40k techmarine (who still rocks) with some servitors from GW. Think I'll pass on these as great as they are :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312377-forgeworld-new-releases-140815-eidolon-techmarines/#findComment-4146315 Share on other sites
Slips
Maybe it's just the photos, but Eidolons right leg looks oversized. Angle of the photo and how his Mk IV Greaves seem to "Bell Out" at the bottom compared to others that are just straight. I'm also a bit disappointed that His, Sigismund and the IF Command Squads Filigree is pretty much the same for all of them. A little variation would have been nice; though I attribute that to limitations of the Scale and Material. BFeeder
Bases are definitely getting bigger aren't they. By the time they cover the Emperor vs Horus duel, maybe they will give us a whole section of the Vengeful Spirit's bridgespace? WolfOfHorus
The pricing is all over the place. For 4 pounds more you can get can get a Command Squad instead of a Techmarine. The Legion Techmarines suck rules wise as well. The Legion Techmarines suck rules wise as well. Use them as Forgelords instead. The only real Forgelord we've got is IH Flavored and in Termy Armor. I'm still convinced they'll do it like the old Mike McVey diorama with both of them facing down over Sanguinius' corpse. Plaguecaster
I actually like the techmarines, going to get one I wonder if the heads are fixed to the torsos as i would love to do get the MKIII and swap the heads with something more cooler, looks like I will be getting something from forgeworld afterall Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312377-forgeworld-new-releases-140815-eidolon-techmarines/#findComment-4146348 Share on other sites
Barabbas Sogalon
Sadly not even FW can make me like the look of Techmarines. Doctor Perils
I like the idea of techmarines, but I don't think they get much love from Games Workshop, and I'm a bit disappointed that you don't get a special mkIII helm for him: techmarines are the character type that I feel is least likely to go bare-headed, and an techy Iron-helm would have been nice. The rest of the model is pretty nice though for me. I'm not as sure about the mkIV, it's probably my least favourite mark, and I don't like that helm shape for the techmarines, it looks like something out of Power Rangers rather than a GrimDark universe, which is one of the reasons I've never been interested in getting the Games Workshop techmarines or masters of the forge... Oh well, x-acto knife to the ready! Corswain
Love Eidolon. One of the best sculpts in the series so far, in my opinion. Love the helmet option too! Iron Hands Fanatic
Big fan of those Techmarines - the MkIV helmet does look a bit off, but I think a simple headswap / filling in the recessed lines on the faceplate should sort that out. Now we just wait for their inevitable conversion into Xth Legion Praetors / Centurions :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312377-forgeworld-new-releases-140815-eidolon-techmarines/#findComment-4146412 Share on other sites

That would be unreal Yeah, replete with a massive viewport that shows Terra on fire in the distance Anyway back on topic, I think I'm going to use Eidolon as the base for a IX Legion Praetor, as I think he would look mighty fine in blood red plate. Emperor's Furor
Such a shame I can't stand the Emperor's Children because all their models (apart from the primarch imo) are gorgeous. I still want a Tarvitz model though. Kizzdougs
It's only right that the III Legion should have the best looking minis in the range. Only the best for the Emperor's favourite Legion ;) I'm looking forward to seeing people paint up the Forge Lords/Techmarines. Joe
@BFeeder; how will you deal with the Sonic Shrieker? ;P @WoT; Any characters that have rules will receive models in the future, to quote Forge World at the last open day. Tarvitz, Maloghurst, Erasmus Golg, Kyr Vhalen, Autek Mor, Castrmen Orth, Remus Ventanus, Durak Rask, Crysos Mortug, Kaedes Nex, Alvarex Maun, Hol Beloth, Cassian Dracos, Nomus Rhy'tan and so on, not to mention all the characters like Ahriman and such. I'm pretty sure Dorn's rules are already out yet he doesn't have a model?
