v6v77
Greetings all For those of us still waiting for our primarchs Alpharius Corax Dorn Does anyone have any suggestions for cheap (because we will obviously be buying the real thing when they drop) and relatively accurate models to proxy them. I am personally looking for info on an alpharius proxy but there are others in the same boat as me for their legions. Ion
Kabuki miniatures. I think it's 40 euros for both Alpharius and Omegon from them Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312426-primarch-proxies/#findComment-4147387 Share on other sites
Fenbain
From what I have seen of the Kabuki models they aren't the correct scale. So they could work but aren't ideal. I personally haven't found any good options for the Primarchs, other than to convert/scratch build them. Alpharius is easier to convert than most as he is smaller than your average primarch. noigrim
I'm more a fan of Scibor, have their Dorn for example: https://www.google.es/search?q=eagle+knight+scibor+miniatures&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=643&site=webhp&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAWoVChMIn9O49uyrxwIVQ7gaCh0Qvw9b&dpr=1 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312426-primarch-proxies/#findComment-4147623 Share on other sites

Inquisitor Kravin
Be warned re Kabuki - I bought 3 only to discover they a bit too small to pass as regular marines, let alone Primarchs. I have pics somewhere. Edit: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/gallery/image/134605-2014-08-12-081421/ Done on my phone so apologies if it doesn't work. Grey Hunter versus Kabuki Russ. Of course, Alpharius being the size of a normal marine makes a degree of sense xD Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312426-primarch-proxies/#findComment-4147694 Share on other sites
v6v77
Thanks for all your input guys. I know for me this is a safe bet as i have it on good authority that alpharius is not next. Have kabuki purged their knights of legend (aka primarch) listing as i cannot access the store to browse. Could be a mobile issue. RandomMarine
The earlier kabuki stuff is small but the newer one have been re scaled to fw size. The detail isnt great on the metal one but the resin are ok Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312426-primarch-proxies/#findComment-4153350 Share on other sites
jeremy1391
I'm very happy with my resin one. I think the newer version of Dorn looks goofy. As a plus side I can play with this one when FW comes out with Dorn and I can take an extremely long time to thoroughly paint the sire of the Imperial Fists. lokkorex
I've bought kabuki iron guard "cough"perturabo"cough" and steam guard"cough"cough"mortarion"cough" Both are in pretty decent scale compared to regular marines and terminators, both stand head and shoulders above a cataphractii, sorta. It's just that for some reason kabuki seem to have a fetish for making their models have as weird poses as possible, leading to me having to chop them up into little pieces and rebuild them again into something more believable. Also, according to the artwork of some primarchs they aren't that much taller than their sons, for example: http://s49.photobucket.com/user/SGM-Daly91/media/Horus%20Heresy%20Pics/Mortarion_Deathshroud_zpsa39113ea.jpg.html http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130202025539/warhammer40k/images/6/6e/Rogal_Dorn_Imperial_Fists.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312426-primarch-proxies/#findComment-4153813 Share on other sites

Kriegriss
I always liked the idea of primarchs not being gigantic. sure larger then astartes bit not enormous like some artwork suggest it I'm not really a primarch fan as far as gaming goes so I could be biased Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312426-primarch-proxies/#findComment-4154827 Share on other sites

In his armor he's supposed to be indistinguishable from anyone else in the Alpha Legion so you can easily work just from a regular character model or even a regular legionary. Maybe it's not the kind of centerpiece that we'll eventually get from Forge World but it's extremely fluffy for him to just be a dude with shmancy painted armor. Inquisitor Kravin
I'm now even more miffed as I hear that kabuki have re-scaled. I found mine again the other day. "Not Fulgrim" and "Not Lorgar" really are too small even to pass as regular marines and "Not Russ"'s wolves are fit only to be rats in a Skaven army! I've learned my lesson and will wait for Forgeworld. The one exception is Russ - check out forum member Dechande's "true scale" sculpts if you want Russ. Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
For Corax you get try converting something out of the new AoS flying guys That's freaking genius. I never thought of that, but now have a good reason to look into that. a fellow B&C member converted me a Corax from Fulgrim to be used in an Apoc game. It was only primed at the time of the game. Here he is going one on one with a Bloodthirster (it would take 3 rounds of combat and 3 of his wounds, but he would kill the beast) http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i65/kieran_m/40k%20Battles/Shenanigans%20Apoc%20game%206-15/2015-06-27%2021.03.59_zps49bqk1fi.jpg WLK Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312426-primarch-proxies/#findComment-4160669 Share on other sites
Kriegriss
that's not bad 3 rounds if I had to kill a bloodthirster it would probly rake at least 5 rounds of combat lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312426-primarch-proxies/#findComment-4160960 Share on other sites
