Old Russ kits

The old kits are quite different. They only come with the one build and one set of weapons (lascannon, 2 heavy bolters) and the turret and turret rings are different to the new kits. Along with the tracks too, they're a lot more "fun" to build.

They're a bit of history though, I still use mine :)

Feels like a long time ago Jolemai, I think it was the middle of 2010... so I guess it was! :P

The Demolisher is good, a powerful main cannon that needs no additions to be effective (though arguably you could say this about all Russ variants). I like to give mine the free hull heavy flamer for backup in case the enemy close in, but otherwise it is strong enough to work alone. More importantly it'd be a waste of fire power as usually a single demolisher shell is enough for more problems ;)

They are good tanks albeit expensive and short ranged so that must be taken into account. A couple will eat your Heavy Support slots up, but they will make a potent tag team to solve most problems! Second only to the standard battle tank in terms of fitting into lists easily I reckon :)

I actually have one of the old cadian battleforces sitting on the shelf at my parents place.. I need to go get that sometime.. The one with x2 infantry squads, heavy weapon squad and the standard Leman Russ battle tank. Warriorfish are the turret and turret rings so different that you can't magnetize/swap them etc with the new kits? Or even put the complete turrets from forge world on them?

Why a heavy flamer? It can't use it if you wish to use the demolisher cannon due to it being Ordnance...

Anyway, assuming FW isn't a problem, surely the Thunderer is a better choice than the Demolisher?

Sorry for the hijack...

If you're in range of the flamer you're too close for the dustbin tongue.png Aside from being free (which is always nice) I like hull heavy flamers. Most foes want to close on Guard especially vehicles but that becomes a lot more dangerous when you have plenty of templates to put down in response smile.png

Demolisher is a great tank especially if you are planning on getting close to the enemy anyways. If you are slogging or meching hordes of guardsmen and or chimeras into your opponents face a demolisher or 3 would fit in well to distract and soak fire, or if ignored by enemy fire will make them pay dearly as a s10 ap2 pie plate will smash just about anything... And aren't dem cannons still ordinance and thus reroll against av?

Remember also that for once the imperium really thought ahead and have better rear armor on a vehicle that will be in the enemies face and thus more vulnerable to being out flanked.
