librisrouge
My wife has approved my purchase of a Warhound Titan as my Christmas present (getting it now because FW doesn't stock Lucius Patterns anymore.) To that end, I now have to debate how I intend to field it, once it is assembled and beautiful. I intend to stock it with a Plasma Blastgun and Double-Barrel Turbolaser, so it packs plenty of AP2 and anti-tank weapons. It has to be a CAD, because I know of no other way to get a LoW slot for IG. The rest of the army needs to be focused on protecting it and covering for its weaknesses. This means, to me, numbers (either of infantry or tanks) so that they can block attackers from getting to it, and anti-infantry weapons. The list would need a fair bit of vehicles as well, so that the poor guy isn't attracting the enemy's whole AT attention. Here is my, rough, idea: CCS - Aquila and Plasma x4 in Chimera Veteran - Plasma x3 in Chimera Veteran - Flamer x3 in Chimera Veteran - Meltagun x3 in Chimera (extra AT) Hellhound - Heavy Flamer Thunderer Siege Tank Thunderer Siege Tank + Warhound Titan I'd be glad to hear your guys' ideas (and have this moved to the army list area if that is felt to be appropriate.) march10k
I like it...it's a bit light on superscoring, but that's not fatal. I'm not sure I'd need chimeltavets in that list, either...between the thunderers and the titan, I think you've got antitank covered. I'd go for a second trio of plasma guns instead...at close range, 6 (or 8) BS4 S7 shots should make a mess of a lighter vehicle, possibly even up to AV12...times three squads? Noice! You're also relying heavily on flamers as a substitute for volume of fire, but those large blasts can supplement, I guess... librisrouge
So maybe something in the ballpark of: Here is my, rough, idea: CCS - Aquila and Plasma x4 in Chimera Veteran - Plasma x3 in Chimera Veteran - Plasma x3 in Chimera Veteran - Plasma x3 in Chimera Hellhound - Heavy Flamer Thunderer Siege Tank Thunderer Siege Tank + Warhound Titan Points are probably pushing it (I'll have to see) so I'd probably drop the hellhound. march10k
Well...before dropping the hellhound, I'd consider 1-2 veteran squads with either flamers or grenade launchers. By going for pure plasma, you're setting yourself up to wreck MEQs, but you'll struggle against hordes. The hellhound and one vet squad with flamers was covering that base, but you could get away with two flamer squads if it made the points work, you'd still have 7 plasma guns, and 7-10 would be great. WarriorFish
I consider army lists is more for the review of a list rather than explicit building of one as that involves a lot more that isn't pure list fu. It looks like a good start to me but as march says a bit more horde control would help I reckon. librisrouge
Hmmm...tank commanders might work out here then, or other options. I haven't really looked at mix mech, which could work, I suppose. CCS - Astropath and Regimental Standard Primaris Psyker - Lvl 2 (Divination) Ministorum Priest PCS - Flamer x4 in Chimera Infantry Squad x2 - Lascannon and Flamer Conscripts x30 Veteran Squad - Flamers in Chimera Veteran Squad - Flamers in Chimera Thunder Siege Tank Thunder Siege Tank + Warhound Titan I think I can fit all of that too. The psyker would hang out with the infantry, who would chump block anybody from getting near the Titan. Chimeras and Thunderers would work toward a goal, supporting each other and getting long range help from the titan. What do you guys think? Aside from the skies, any obvious weaknesses? WarriorFish
Has some good numbers. With a Titan in the mix that's going to answer a lot of your problems with heavy armour etc so as long as that keeps trucking you're looking good. You can worry about enemy infantry should they get close enough but that will involve running the gauntlet of intercepting Vets and then the Guardsmen holding the line. All the time under the Warhound's guns should it want to turn them...
