Felt colors for home board

Recommended Posts

Have you got any pictures ?

as it is, I'd probably say green, because you can always add roads or streets as stand alone pieces, and a greener town seems more plausible than grey nature. But it is 40k and a question of taste, so I may be wrong tongue.png

I think that the grey should be fine for a city fight board. Having said that, why not buy both colors of felt? Unless you don't have much money at the moment and / or you are going to a place that charges an arm and a leg for felt, getting a 6x6 foot piece of  should only put you back $20 at most, and whenever want to fight in open terrain, just swap felt.

I'd go brown.

It's dirt and mud color in most imaginable war zones. Add ashed out grey based buildings, rubble, or streets, and it just looks like the muck between streets and ruins... Add green based trees and hills and it looks like churned up muck in the more traversable parts of the board which have probably been thoroughly marched and driven over.

That's my 2 cents.

My old board was a dessert tan because most of our matches where on Armageddon...

I like city fight a lot but don't know if the grey will be to dull.

Then do that but use another colour. It seems like every SF gamer paints every city grey, when there’s so much more you can do by just adding a bit more colour. Here, for example, is a not-too-great photo two of my Miniature Scenery buildings:

Yes, the ground sections with the channel are grey, but those are not mine; the road tiles are mine, and they’re grey with black, true — that’s partly why I painted the buildings’ walls in different colours.

There’s no reason why you couldn’t do something similar with your table: don’t go for plain grey, but for grey with a brown hue for example — it’ll still give the impression of a city, but without being as dull as you usually see.
