First post update. Thought I'd share Voldus here as most of the pics below are bad. I mean, Voldus aint great but he's better than the poor offerings in the rest of the thread! :D

Okay, this is a very early days thread I have going on. The following three models are very very old paint jobs on the old metal Grey Knights. Apart from the WIP terminator which is a recent go at getting my paint scheme sorted.

I did rebase the normal Gk's onto the 32mm bases and tidy them up. However I like having my old paint jobs around, reminds me how far I have come (or regressed!).

More to come on this thread in the future, but its a slow burner for now!

I would suggest that you concentrate on your Ultramarines, since they seem to be the army which is the most advanced at this stage, while keeping the Grey Knights for "special occasions" when you've had enough of painting blue or just generally feel like painting something else :)

Another old Grey Knight!

I basically just re-based this guy and did his sword!

These are horrible models to paint, they are the old metal ones and are honestly painful, so I wont be going back and re-doing the whole model.

Looks good. Is that a gauntlet-mounted heavy flamer, or a meltagun?

I have no idea what the weapon is, so thanks Ludo! :D

And yeah, I tend to go for these models cos it breaks things up a little. I have done a few other projects recently which I can't post here because they dont fit the forum rules, but eventually I will be back to more power armoured goodness!

Another Grey Knight I re-based and actually painted the weapon for. I need an air brush :/

I actually started the re-base/weapon painting for this guy a while ago, like three months ago. Thats how passionate I feel about the old metal models. I get the feeling I may enjoy the experience a lot more with the lovely new plastics! :D

Ta Bio, I am hoping to start work on them some time this year, I just needed the practice on the force weapons first! :D

Interestingly enough, this guy's weapon keeps snapping off even with pinning, so it made painting the weapon a bit more of a pain so I just left it as is after a while. Still the whole squad is now updated with new bases and weapons that are actually painted!

No idea what's next, I will eventually return to my Word Bearers!

Ta man! Like I say, these guys were painted when they first came out in metal, so they look a bit rough around the edges, but then that was the standard I had 10 (?) years ago! :D

I'm still kinda getting to know how to paint decent looking force weapons, I get the feeling an airbrush would be remarkable help in that department!

Glad I spotted this. :tu:

I've purchased a load of GK kits and ended up raiding for converting up a few =][= and that's about it. I'd be happy to get mine half as good as these when I finally get round to starting them up!!!

Would be good to see some WIP in the future to get some ideas on how to tackle painting them. ;)

Been working on Voldus. This is a quick run through, so sadly I am not doing the miniature justice. But I wanted to complete the Triumvirate box set before starting something else.

Still, not looking too bad.  I haven't painted a Grey Knight in ages, so I am glad it's this guy. It means the army has a leader now!

Ta man.

I know I whine a lot in my threads, but I think we both know this guy looks a little rushed! It's cool though, I can't spend days on everything I paint!

I am doing the Tale of Warlords thing after this. So this chap really really needs to get finished. I'm either Deathwatch or I am gonna use it as an excuse to add to my Ultramarines! So even more Imperial scum! :D

Probably the worst paint job I've done for a number of years.

My heart hasn't been in this. There is nothing wrong with the model, it's great. I just have millions of other projects to do, and this guy was started purely to finish the box set off. Last time I make that mistake.

I will be giving him a scenic base in order to do a tutorial on painting marble.

He's just the worst :P In all seriousness, he does look fantastic, but I know that feeling when you paint something and you personally feel you haven't done the job you wanted to. Do you think you might revisit him a little later on or just call it done?

Yeah very much so. When I do the tutorial on his base I may go back to him and tidy up his cloak and the books. There is a reason I haven't taken any pics from behind. I haven't even done any freehand on him really. Just some boring script crap that takes 10 seconds.

Thing is I want to do a Grey Knights army, so it's not like I hate the models. I just feel literally swamped with stuff to paint. :(
