Just4uCupCake
Greetings brothers, I have just recently purchased a warhound titan and a deredeo from FW. My army colors are blood angels with a little extra black and gold here and there. I want my warhound to stand out and not just Red or black like everything else. I want to paint it white with red and black checkered patterns on the armor in some places and do the trim a bronze goldish color. How do you achieve such picture perfect checker patterns? How Do I get a great clean white color? Ive watched how to painted white scars on youtube and thats the kinda bright white I want for it but I'm not sure if its different for a warhound. Also How do I go about painting the interior? do I assemble then paint or paint then assemble? For the gold trim what manner of citadel paints do i need to use in combination to get a highlight of gold? Another thing is what size base do I need? I've heard so many things on the internet "use CDs" "10 inches or more" so I thought why not ask these questions to my most valuable and respected source of information and brotherhood the B&C. I want to be able to put a little diorama on the base as well maybe the titan standing on a carnifex or chaos predator/land raider, wounded blood angels retreating looking for hope in the titan. Or perhaps a gun line and trenches and sand bags with blood angels holding ground and tyranids pounring down at them from all sides on the brink of defeat and then the titan shows up in the last hour rallying the blood angels and saving the day. Something Like that I'm very into setting a heroic scene on the base and writing a narrative for my first titan. Lastly if anyone has any painting assembling cleaning pinning magnetization tips please let me know. This is but my first titan which I am building my whole legion on. The Legio Titanicus name I have come up with is The Gloom Walkers inspired to me by reading the first Star Wars: Darth Bane book path of destruction which was Darth Banes Platoon name he was in before he discovered his force powers. Thanks again for hanging on and reading this and going through my rants. Much appreciation, Your friendly cupcake Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312802-tips-on-paintingassembling-my-warhound/ Share on other sites
Lucien Eilam
Here's a tip: press return twice every now and then, dividing related sentences into paragraphs. I found this blog series useful when assembling mine: https://wildboarblog.wordpress.com/works-in-progress/warhound-titan/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312802-tips-on-paintingassembling-my-warhound/#findComment-4154433 Share on other sites
Doctor Perils
It might be worth investing in an airbrush if you haven't got one yet, but I couldn't give any more advice than that really for that side of things. I've heard that for checkered patterns, it's a good idea to paint a thin grid of a light colour (let's say light grey), then you paint each square separately, making sure to paint over half of the lines of the grid so as to make the squares look equal rather than have black squares bigger than the red ones. EDIT: good luck for this project ! Dantay VI
For checkers, maskig tape is your friend. Do your base colour and then varnish. Draw out the checker pattern on the maskin tape befoe applying it to the model if possible and then put the tape on the parts you want checkered Using a steady hand and a sharp knife cut out your squares for the checker pattern, make sure the knif eis sharp, so you do not tugg or pull on the tape. Make sure your remaing tae is securely stuck down to stop paint bleeding under. Paint the whole area as you did with the first coat. That way you get the highlights and shades in where you want them without guessng Let it dry thoroughly and gently remove squares. Et voila http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20150801_002938.jpg http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20150801_002852.jpg http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20150706_124542.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312802-tips-on-paintingassembling-my-warhound/#findComment-4154464 Share on other sites

Dantay VI
No worries fella! In the second icture, for the chest-plate you can see where the masking tape along the top wasnt stuck down securely, so the brown was has gone over the red and bone/white, also because the knife wasn't sharp enough you can see gapsin the squares, of course it is magnified by the picture and isn't visible in person. Masking tape is your friend I did mine by hand, it will go smoother if you have an airbrush.
