Maybe the recessed panels on the sides?

Always a great one to do. That's where I put my red!

That was the first thing I considered and it's still a strong possibility. I got to thinking I wanted to do only raised areas in red since it matches the power armour scheme more closely, but that might be overthinking it.

I've got the razorback mostly done so I got a combat squad and mephy together with it for a few pictures.

I've got enough clean armour now, I think it's time for some weathering.

I've been experimenting with agrellan earth straight onto flat areas of armour after a basecoat, then painting the red over the top after it dries and cracks to get a molting effect. I haven't been able to get a good picture yet but I'll get there.

Thank you for the compliment! I'm looking forward to getting some more armour (dreads) done up.

I've been mostly away for a while, but I do have a few things today. I had a go at weathering again and did my libby contemptor, razorback, and tactical combat squad. I've also got a kitbashed Corbs wip and a fragioso built off of a venerable chassis.

I almost forgot about delves into textured paint! Here is this gross guy who seems to have lost his arms in all the fuss of looking for more blood. The cracks on the left side of the chest plate and on the right leg are where I used agrellan earth. After it set I brushed nulin oil gloss into the cracks to try for an extra ichory underlayer, but it doesn't really come through in the picture.

Thanks for looking, c&c always welcome.

CaptainHelion- Thanks! I'd never used it even for bases before so it is still pretty new. Seems like you have to bubble it on so flat surfaces get a lot rounder. I think the next thing I'll try will be to use it kind of like liquid greenstuff and fill in a large gouge, see if it has a more flush texture.

Brother Lemartes- I'm glad you like it! I'm wanting to get into it a little heavier, but alas life complications. My own pile of shame grows, lol.

Doooo iiit!

Did a little bit of white on the fragioso and somewhere along the line I decided he needs to have an axe for even more of a sanguinary guard feel. I can't be 100% sure it will stick around but I'm liking it so far. The icing on the cake would be a magna grapple that is somehow reminiscent of a jump pack.

Thanks, Charlo! I've got a few pictures today. One of the assault squad I'm making based off the tacticals from BA Get Started box and a few offerings I've been prepping for the IC kitbash event:

These old chaps. Almost have all the paint off now.

And DC Tycho

I had planned on it! I was kicking myself earlier because I thought I saw something about "unassembled" being in the rules.

parts:

Left arms and legs are from BaC tacticals

Head and shoulder pads are from the vanguard vet box

Torso front, left hand, and backpack are from the BA tactical box (the iron halo is old, not sure where it came from)

Torso back/cape is a deathwatch blackshield bit and the combi is made from the stalker boltgun arm and combimelta bit from the same kit.

The half mask was salvaged from a skull I mucked up a while back and the digital weapons are trimmed down fingers from an open bolter hand.

Edit: May be worth mentioning that the torso bits didnt fit exactly. A little filing on the front collar helped but I what took me a minute to realize was the dimples on the front piece are a little bigger than the divots on the back. The other thing was the cape and tabard making it hard to find legs that fit. I ended up bending the cape outward a tiny bit and it fit no problem.

Hey everyone! I've been toiling over my bitz box a bunch lately for the kitbashing but I've been making a little bit of progress elsewhere, too. The ten man assault squad mostly assembled and started getting some white, while I'm almost certain that my dakka baal has gotten faster.

Beakies go!

and here is the pred. They didn't come out quite as good as I hoped, I plan on touching them up some more later.

I think I could widen both sides just a tad down the entire length and it would even up pretty well. Anyone have any thoughts?

Last is my wip DC Tycho for the GBBO.

Thanks for looking, cheers!
