Adeptus
Hi folks. My GK vehicles use the old GW Blood Red paint for their heraldry. I'm in the process of updating my paint range and want to get some Vallejo Model Air to make it easier to airbrush more vehicles in the future, but I'm not sure which Vallejo paint will best match the old GW Blood Red? Does anyone have some experience matching this paint colour, and can point me in the right direction? I don't want to buy four different colours and wait for them all to be shipped so I can compare them myself if I don't have to! Ovidius Incertus
Although I don't have the Citadel paint in question, looking at a swatch of it and comparing to my VMA, it looks to be somewhere in between VMA Scarlet Red and Ferrari Red. If I had to decide, I'd say Ferrari Red. Adeptus
Cheers. I was leaning to Ferrari red but in some of the pictures it looked quite dark. Firepower
All I can offer is a bit of advice: don't trust swatches. Viewing swatches online runs into a few problems, between the variable tones used by different suppliers, and the way that your monitor's color settings obviously alter the tone, too. The only reliable way to compare is in person (or ask someone else who has it, as you have), but even then certain colors like red are not easy to accurately judge. Fun fact, women are better at seeing variances in red than men. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312823-paint-comparison-gw-blood-red-to-vallejo-model-air/#findComment-4155607 Share on other sites
Razblood
Pretty sure Scarlet Red is the closest, there is no perfect direct analogue though unfortunately. Although +1 to what Firepower said :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/312823-paint-comparison-gw-blood-red-to-vallejo-model-air/#findComment-4155632 Share on other sites
Peredyne
Vallejo Game Air (VGA) Bloody Red is almost spot on for GW Blood Red. Razblood
Is it better than vgc bloody red, cos that is way too orangey as well as being one of the worst reds I've ever used. Vmc flat red isn't too far away either and is a damn good paint.
