arisen
I'm working my way towards 5 knights (gallant, 2 wardens, errant, paladin), but I'm wondering about which formation to take. Baronial court has an interesting +1 save, but only to the front and within range of others, while all exalted court bonuses are passive and constant. I think 2 BS5 wardens, a WS6 gallant with a 3+ inv rushing forward, and being able to challenge out any meltabomb wielding characters with any knight in the formation seems very useful. And with WS4 being so common, the WS5 really comes into play for hitting most things on 3+ instead of 4+ in CC. Unless I'm overlooking something why the baronial court or even the household would provide more benefits. I'd like to hear about your experiences and opinions. Frater Cornelius
Well, you can summarize is like this: Exapted = Offense Baronial = Defense So if you want to bull-rush the enemy in a blitz-krieg sort of game, then the Exalted is for you. If you want a long game and win by outlasting the opponent, then the Baronial is for you. Though what sets the Exalted apart is that everyone can get a Relic, which gives it somewhat of an edge. It also depends on the opponent. If I was playing against loads of D or Haywire, I would choose Baronial to survive longer. Anyway, just as yourself how you envision your army and take it from there. arisen
Since my reasoning is "the best defense is a good offense" exalted will be my go to formation. Thanks for the reply! librisrouge
That is what I've used. Exalted removes any psychological hindrance to splitting up and going after the enemy. Knights are so outnumbered that thinning the enemy is stage one of any battle. Otherwise they'll be able to overwhelm you or surround you. The best way to reducing incoming harm is to eliminate the source of that harm! jeffersonian000
If you set up your five Knights correctly, you can field them as either a Household, a Baronial, or an Exalted as needed to best fit the matchup. Frater Cornelius
Positioning, Bro. Stuff 'em in the corners and deny anything but the frontal arc and increase chances for them to fly off the board. Targetlock
use the old tactic of forced deployment, just occupy one corner and let them come to you, limits firing arcs and enemy weapon ranges. i used to that in fantasy with my dwarfs, worked rather well.
